Costume & Party Guidelines: Students should bring costumes in a bag. Costumes must be appropriate for school. Costumes should not be violent or scary in nature. No blood, guts, or weapons. No masks. Make-up is discouraged because it is difficult to apply. No bare midriffs or scant clothing. Students may be asked to remove or put away any parts of costumes based on teacher judgment.
Room Parents who are assisting with the parties should not wear disguises that would make it difficult to recognize them as a safe person
Only Room Parents may attend the classroom parties and assist students
Room Parent Guidelines:
No more than 3 room parents per classroom may attend the party. (Others may assist outside of school with preparations or goody bags). Sign-up for Room Parents was completed through our PTO in September.
Lead Room Parent: Work with the classroom teacher & other room parents on activities/games for the party
Lead Room Parent: Coordinate with the teacher & other room parents on any non-edible goody bags to be sent home. No food treats will be eaten during the party or sent home.
Complete the D303 volunteer form for this school year 2023-2024. If you have never had your ID/drivers license scanned at the school, it is very helpful to have that done prior to the party. Stop by the office at your convenience.

Erin’s Law Presentations
Erin's Law (Illinois Public Act 097-1147) requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all children in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth annually. At the elementary level, instruction is provided by social workers and psychologists in partnership with classroom teachers. Please click HERE for a more detailed letter regarding Erin’s Law.
Fire Safety Presentation
On Wednesday the fire department presented a safety presentation! The students were very engaged and loved seeing an actual fire truck!
Gaga Ball is Here at Davis Primary!!
Davis has an amazing new Gaga Ball Pit on our playground. Nancy Mattson, our PE teacher won a grant through Making Kane County Fit for Kids. Davis was awarded $7620.00 to fund the project.
What is Gaga Ball? Gaga is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! Dubbed a kinder gentler version of dodge ball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Fun and easy, everyone gets a serious workout. Our students love playing the game and now have an “official” pit to play in. Ask your child how to play. I’m sure they would love to play with you. Click HERE for the official rules and a helpful video.
News from the Nurse
The October 15th deadline is fast approaching for families who have not completed your child’s Physical Exam and completed Immunization Record. Many reminders have been sent out. Please reach out to Nurse Peggy or Nurse Leeanna with a date the exam will be completed. If we do not hear from you before that date, there is a possibility that your child may be excluded from school until that requirement is completed. If you need any assistance, we are available and have many resources we can share. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
Hearing and Vision screenings have started. If your child is supposed to be wearing glasses, please make sure your child brings them to school every day. We have found that many students that are having a hard time with the screenings are also having a hard time seeing the board in the classroom. Some already have glasses that they are supposed to wear daily, but they are not wearing them. The screenings are done to encourage and create healthy environments, so our students have the best opportunity to learn. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
