Welcome to the New School Year!

Dear Stonegate Families,

We are thrilled to be opening our schoolhouse doors one week from today to serve you and your children. We welcome both our returning and new families with open arms and open hearts. My name is Connie Largent and as the proud principal of Stonegate Elementary and on behalf of our entire Stonegate team, we are honored to have you.

During this final week of summer, we will be continuing to work hard to get the schoolhouse ready for the new school year. As always, our summer has been a busy one and while we have enjoyed the slower pace that summer often brings, our hallways have been too quiet and we are ready to hear the sounds of laughter and to see the smiles!

This will be the first of our weekly newsletters for the 2018-2019 school year. It is filled with valuable information for getting prepared for the new school year as well as an update of what has been happening this past summer. I hope you find it to be helpful as you prepare for your child(ren) to return back on Wednesday, August 8th.

Monday, August 6th

• 5:00 - 6:30 PM - Meet and Greet Night! Please join us in order to reconnect with classmates and visit your classroom. During this time, your family can drop off supplies, meet teachers, and get your last few questions answered.

Tuesday, August 7th

• NO school for teachers and students. Enjoy one more day of summer!

Wednesday, August 8th

• THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Thursday, August 23rd - KDG-4th Grade Curriculum Night

• During this event, each classroom teacher will present a half-hour session highlighting the curriculum, events, and expectations for the year ahead. Each grade level has a designated time. You will also be able to visit informational booths from various district and community organizations.
• 5:30 - 6:00 - KDG
• 6:00 - 6:30 - 1st grade
• 6:30 - 7:00- 2nd grade
• 7:00 - 7:30 - 3rd grade
• 7:30 - 8:00 - 4th grade

Hello! I am happy to be one of the kindergarten teachers at Stonegate Elementary. I grew up in Kokomo, IN with my mom, dad, and 3 sisters. I graduated from Purdue with a degree in early childhood education and exceptional needs. I then taught kindergarten for several years in Kokomo. I love teaching kindergarten and helping students fall in love with learning.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing the impact I can make in children’s lives. I know that every child is capable of so much. I believe that by creating a safe and positive learning environment, my students can develop into creative and life-long learners! When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, reading, and Purdue basketball. I cannot wait to start this school year at Stonegate Elementary. I am excited to make this year the best year yet!

I am so excited to be joining the Stonegate Elementary Family! I have been married to my husband, Peter for 24 years and we have two sons, Eli and Levi. We are so excited to be making the move to the Zionsville area, from Joliet, IL, as we have lots of family in the area!

I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, and I have worked in various educational capacities, from being a Guest Teacher, to an RtI Teacher, to teaching in a private school, to teaching in a public school. Through all of these experiences I have only grown in my conviction that teaching is most definitely a "calling" for me. I love it with every fiber of my being and I will always be proud to say I am a teacher.

I am excited to meet everyone and to be a part of the Stonegate Elementary community!

Hi! My name is Mrs. Anne Barth, and I am one of the new teachers joining the Stonegate family. I will be teaching third grade this year. I am excited to continue to work with this fantastic grade. I recently graduated from Ball State University with high honors and spent my student teaching placement in a third-grade class in Noblesville. I have a love for STEM and was a lead teacher for Engineering for Kids, an afterschool program.

I grew up in Minnesota and moved to Indiana about two years ago. At the beginning of the summer, I got married in St. Thomas and spent a week with family and friends. I currently live with my husband in Noblesville and in my free time I like to read, bake, and spend time with family and friends. I have nine amazing nieces and nephews, and I love to travel. I can’t wait to have an incredible year here at Stonegate.

Hello! My name is Miss Erin Nahrstadt and I’m excited to join the fourth grade team at Stonegate! I graduated from Concordia University in Chicago. For the past 3 years I have taught fourth and fifth grade at an elementary school in Illinois. I just moved to Indiana and am excited for the new adventure! In my previous position, I served as team leader helping to develop curriculum, and implement new strategies to improve test scores, receiving recognition for one of the highest growth rates in the district for math. With an extensive background in technology as well, I am constantly seeking ways to incorporate it creatively into lessons to make learning fun! If students are challenged and having fun at the same time that’s a win, win! I get excited when my students are excited…whether collaborating on a project or in those moments of new discovery.

I also enjoy being involved in the community and getting to know the students and their families better. In addition to teaching, I love spending time with my family, cooking, reading, and artistic designing.
