PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Once again, we are holding a Holiday Gift Card Drive to support Northeast families. Please see the information below and consider making a donation. We have many families that could benefit from some support this holiday season. Thank you for considering ❤️.
Starting next week, Northeast will be participating in The Hour of Code. Previously, we have participated in Waltham Codes, a district-wide initiative to bring computer programming into every school. While not as widely advertised this year, some Waltham schools are running Hour of Code activities to help students learn to think like programmers. Whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.
The Hour of Code is a global movement introducing tens of millions of students worldwide to computer science, inspiring kids to learn more, breaking stereotypes, and leaving them feeling empowered. Ms. Serafin will be going to each class in the next two weeks to work on an Hour of Code with students. To learn more about Hour of Code, you can visit www.code.org or www.waltham.codes.Today is Day 60 of the school year and marks the end of Term 1 for Grades 2-5. Report Cards will go home with students on Friday, December 16th.
Attendance letters are going out next week.
The Northeast Winter Concert is coming up on Wednesday, December 14th. This will be held in the Gym. Visitors attending the concert will enter through the Gym doors. Grades 3-5, including orchestra and band will perform at 9:30am. Grades K-2 will perform at 10:30am. Please remember that parking is tight at Northeast. You may park in the parent pick up line, on Warwick Ave or on Doty St. The Gym doors will open at 9:20am. We look forward to seeing you!

The Waltham Public Schools have made some changes to elementary school schedules to allow for equitable specialist time for all students. Please see the letter, including a schedule, from Mr. Douglas Trudeau, Director of Fine and Performing Arts, which explains the schedule changes and the days they will occur. We will send reminders when the changes are happening so that students will be prepared with sneakers on Physical Education days, instruments on Music Days and Library books on Library days.
