CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
This Thursday we gathered as a school to hold our First-Trimester Assembly! We used this as an opportunity recognize students who received academic and character awards. We are proud of ALL of our students and loved being able to gather together as a whole school to support one another.
Traffic Reminder
Arrival and dismissal times are very busy here at school, and nowhere is this truer than in our parking lot! In addition to watching for people, please be sure to stop and check for oncoming traffic before you depart the lot. It can be tight quarters with many vehicles and we want to be sure that everyone stays safe. Thank you for your help!
WCS Winter Tree Lighting
Please join us next Tuesday, 12/19 at 6:00pm, at the PTA Winter Tree Lighting party! We will have hot cocoa, sing carols, and light the tree together. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be joined by Photo Opps Photography, LLC from Bath, who will be taking free family portraits against the PTA backdrop. Remember to dress warmly, and feel free to bring the family to this fun event!
On Tuesday, students in grades 4-8 competed in the school round of the Scipps National Spelling Bee. Millie Polizotto won by correctly spelling the word, "KNOWINGLY." Caroline Luchies came in second and will be our alternate. Millie and Caroline will continue on to represent WCS at the county-level of the Bee. The winner for Sagadahoc county will then compete with students from across the state of Maine for a chance to participate in the National Spelling Bee. Good Luck!!
FILL BILL FOOD DRIVE
Once again, our boat, "Bill" is back in the lobby, waiting for non-perishable food donations to benefit the Bath Area Food Bank! Please consider bringing in items to donate anytime from now through Thursday, 12/21. Our goal is to Fill Bill before vacation. Suggested donations may include: peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meats, pasta sauces, soups and cereals.
WEEKLY WELLNESS WITH MR. HUTCHINGS
This week I would like to talk about core strength and how important it is. Core strength is a term that describes the strong abdominal muscles that help make everyday tasks like sitting, balancing, posture, and athletics possible. Core strength can prevent back pain, and can help you avoid other injuries as well. I work hard to help kids develop their core strength in PE, as it is a passion of mine.
Family Challenge: Can your entire family do a 1-minute plank every day for 30 days? Do it together, make it part of a routine! I would love to see a picture of the family taking in the challenge!
WHAT'S FOR LUNCH...NEXT YEAR?
