Summer Learning

Van ISD Summer Learning will allow students to catch up or accelerate their learning and/or recover credits. The Summer Learning opportunity is an individualized, targeted investment in our Vandal learners!

Students will soon receive notification from their home campuses regarding the need to attend the VISD Summer Learning Program. Eligibility criteria may vary depending on each campus's specific needs.

STAAR Retest opportunities for English I, English II, Algebra I, US History, and Biology will be June 17-19 with June 20 TBD. (specific testing schedule will be released at a later date). Currently, the state does not offer STAAR retesting opportunities for grades 3-8.

K-2nd grade Summer Learning will occur from June 2 - June 19. Students will attend Monday-Thursday from 7:45-12:45. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be available. Students are invited to attend Summer Learning to receive a math and literary focus with a heavy emphasis on phonics. Additionally, students will enjoy academic and STEAM (Science, Engineering, Arts, & Math) enrichment activities.

Summer Learning for EOC Exam Preparation and Credit Recovery students will be held from June 2-19, Monday-Thursday each week. EOC retesting will be June 17-19 with June 20 TBD. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be available. The summer school day will begin at 7:45 and end at 12:45 for students.

Incoming 12th graders wishing to take English IV early, will begin on June 2. The end date in June is TBD. Class will take place on Monday-Friday from 8:00 - 4:00 at Van High School. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided.

Bus transportation will be available from designated locations to and from summer school. The locations and approximate times of pick-up and drop-off are detailed below:
