The IMS Connection
Volume 16, Issue 10: June 2020
Congratulations to all of our students for making the most out of this school year. This is certainly not the way we wanted to finish, but you made the most of what we had. It has been said many times, “When someone gives you lemons, make lemonade”, and you did. As we enter this summer season take a moment to reflect on this past year, and through all of the challenges, think about the things that went well and the successes you had. Learning from the past will help you pave the path to a positive future.
We all look forward to the year ahead and the possibilities that wait. In the meantime, turn off your screens, get outside, and always remember to keep a friendly distance.
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy summer,
Dr. Timothy Martin
Renaissance Rave ~
Renaissance would like to congratulate everyone on their hard work and dedication throughout the School year. Enjoy your well-deserved summer break!
It is hard to believe the end of the school year is upon us. June is a time for celebration and culmination, and the end of this school year should be no different. We may not celebrate or have the same culminating activities as in the past, non the less you can all still celebrate your accomplishments and reflect on the past year and look forward to the road ahead. As I look back through our social media pages, I am warmed with glimpses of some of our greatest hits from the 2019-20 school year: field trips, events, awards, games, concerts, exciting lessons and projects, and so much more.
As I reflect on this year I was honored to be appointed as the Assistant Principal of Islip Middle School. I am overjoyed to be working in a small tight knit community with such strong support for education. I am proud of commitment and hard work of the staff and students, and the support and dedication of the families of IMS. No one could have predicted the current pandemic that has impacted our world, but I have seen a community of staff, students and families rise up to meet the challenges, supporting one another, and making the best of a difficult situation. For that I could not be prouder.
One of the hardest parts of the end of the year is saying goodbye to our 8th graders. Although we will miss you, we know you are in good hands and are always just a short walk away. To our incoming 6th grade students and parents, we welcome you and encourage you to get involved early and often. We are looking forward to an amazing year!
Best regards,
Mr. Cohen
