Attention all Face Painters!
Shelbyville Parks Department is looking for 3-5 students to paint faces for an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9th, at 12pm at Kennedy Park. We are asking for volunteers to meet us in the
Shelter house that morning at 10:45am. We expect the event to last no more than two hours
and the Parks Department will supply all materials. This is a great community service
opportunity! If you would like to participate, see Mrs. Thorpe for more details. Thank you!
Did You Know?
Plastic trash bags should NOT be in the recycling. These bags make sorting the recyclables materials difficult, and if too many plastic bags are in a load then the whole load will be dumped into the landfill and not recycled!! So all plastic bags should be thrown away in the regular garbage.
Empathy Panel
The SHS Library is hosting another empathy panel discussion after school on Tuesday, March
29th. We would like to invite all students and staff to join us for this opportunity to listen to a
people group that is marginalized and does not always have a voice at the table of our
community and society. Listen to members of the Hispanic and LatinX community share their
experiences and learn how you can be a more empathetic and caring participant in the
Shelbyville community. Join us from 3:30 to 5 on March 29th in the library. Light snacks will be
provided.
Indiana Soccer- Small Side Referee Courses
Upcoming Small Side Referee Courses - We need your help!
Indiana Soccer is hosting SEVEN (7) Small Sided Referee Courses scheduled in the next 3 weeks!!
The course is designed for youth and adults who wish to get their feet wet in refereeing soccer via the small sided games (4v4; 7v7 or 9v9). The cost is only $30 - which you can make back in your first game! Currently Indiana has 1,670 certified referees to work the 2022 season. We are anticipating the total number to be about 1,900 referees. In 2021, there were 2,300 referees and we were not able to cover all the games with full ref crews. The actual need is over 3,000 referees.
With the number of tournaments and ISL games - at this rate we won't have enough referees to cover games!
Minimum age is 12
Class is $30. Referees make $15-$25 plus per game.
