HAPPENINGS
Last Days of School
Next week will wrap up the school year with the final day of school Thursday, May 25. Dismissal on Thursday will be at 11:30am. Lunch will be served as usual just a little earlier and buses will run on the last day. Class parties are all scheduled for Monday, May 22, and yearbooks will be sent home with students that day. Please encourage your students to check lost and found.
Graduation Ceremonies
Some times of year are just busier than others. That couldn’t be more true when it comes to May with all of the end of school year activities and celebrations. Next week we will recognize our graduates in several grades. Kindergarten students will have their graduation ceremony on Tuesday morning; 5th grade students will have a ceremony recognizing their bridging to middle school on Tuesday afternoon, and 8th grade students will graduate from FAST and head off to high school on Wednesday. If you have any questions about the events next week, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Middle School Activities
This week marked the 6th grade gauntlet. Students were assigned to team magenta or team teal and competed in a variety of activities outside including relay races and water balloon challenges. The competition was stiff and the camaraderie was strong. At the end of the day, magenta was declared the winner, but from how much fun they all had it didn’t seem like anyone really lost.
Meanwhile, our 8th grade students were enjoying a few days in Chattanooga. Special thanks to the staff members who accompanied them on this trip. They all had a great time.
Art Show Winners!
As part of our Cultural Arts Festival, middle school students were invited to compete in an art competition. The winners of the art contest were 6th grader Harrison McCarren; and Aditi Anand, Cailey, and Isabella. The winners of the music competition were 7th graders Ridhi Mirchandani and Sarayu Chatakondu for their Hindi dance; and 6th grade Salvador Lanza for Fall of the Empire. Congratulations to all!
Senior Walk
FAST is a fairly young school having only had four classes of 8th graders graduate to date. Which means our first class of graduates are graduating high school this year. We were so excited to invite our grads back to walk the halls of FAST to visit their elementary/middle school. Current FAST students lined the halls and cheered for them as they strolled the halls in caps and gowns visiting with former teachers and reminiscing. Some of the graduates were surprised at how much smaller everything looks, while we were all in awe at how much they have grown up. We look forward to this becoming an annual tradition.
