Dear Parents / Carers,

We have had a fabulous first week back in school even though it has been so warm! The children have come back raring to go and have settled into their new classes well. They are smartly dressed and ready to start each morning.

Class newsletters will be available in the next couple of days to give you class specific updates such as which day your child will have PE and their learning for this half term.

Key Stage Two ended the week with a brilliant singing workshop led by Choral Director Craig Lees. We are the only school he works with so it was a special occasion. The children sang beautifully and some were even brave enough to take on solo parts. It was lovely to hear their finished version of 'Something inside so strong'.

We have a very busy term ahead so please make note of the diary dates on this newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who is regularly using our pre order system for school meals. As school dinners must be pre-ordered by you, please ensure you select your child's meal in good time and before 8am for that day. You can order weeks at a time, or even months and (if applicable) the amount is deducted after the child has had a meal.

If your child is not in, or has changed their mind, please ensure you cancel the meal otherwise you will still be charged.

Also, if you are sending in a packed lunch please would you select that option on the meal ordering system.

Please contact the office if you have any problems or need help getting on the meal ordering system on ParentPay.

Active Photographic are coming in to take the individual & siblings photos on Thursday 21st September. There will be the option of coming in before school starts for families with children not at our school. Details on how to book a slot will be emailed next week.

There are still spaces in these clubs apart from Art which is now full.

Welcome back – we hope everyone had a lovely summer and all children have enjoyed being back at school this week.

We hope that all the new starters have had a great first week in the school and all enjoyed their welcome gift of a Kirk Fenton bear from The Friends of Kirk Fenton. We can't wait to find out what names they have been given.

We also hope that all classes have enjoyed their book about the inspirational person that their classes are named on this year.

Just a short update from us this week, unfortunately we have had to postpone the Gin Night which was planned for 22nd September due to low ticket sales over summer. We are hoping to arrange a new date in the next week or so and will share more details once confirmed.

Friends are very happy to be able to fund the coaches needed to take Y4 children to a food workshop at The York Food Festival later this month. Have a great time Y4.

We’ll be holding our AGM in the next month or so, and it would be great to get some more involvement from parents whether it’s joining the committee or supporting as a volunteer at events. We’ll share more information next week on what we do within Friends of Kirk Fenton, how we support the school and the some of our achievements from recent years.
