Conference Make-Ups
We are rescheduling the conferences lost during the snow days to Wednesday and Thursday next week (01/24 and 01/25). Please connect with your child's teacher to make sure you have a slot!
Tea with Mr. G. Rescheduled
Due to the weather, I am rescheduling Tea with Mr. G. (focus on special education services) for Friday, February 2, at 9am. (This means I will also cancel the tea scheduled for February 16 since it's so close.) See you there!
The Read-A-Thon: Get Set Up!
The Read-A-Thon is underway! This past week has been all about getting set up, and logging reading minutes will start on Monday. In case you missed the handout in your student’s Friday Folder last week, you can find all the detailed instructions at https://www.irvingtonschool.com/read-a-thon/.
You still have a few days to get ready! Please remember to:
Make a Pledgestar account for easy online logging of minutes and fundraising.
Make a plan for logging your student’s minutes - either online or on the paper Reading Log. The goal is for EVERY STUDENT to log their minutes, whether or not they will be fundraising.
Send out pledge requests if you’re participating in the fundraising portion of this event - either through Pledgestar or using the paper Pledge Sheet.
Next PTA Meeting Monday (01/22)
Please join us for the next PTA Meeting on Monday, January 22! Free dinner and childcare will begin at 5:30pm and the meeting will start at 6:00.
Two proposals will be presented at this meeting, so it’s especially important that you’re there! Come learn all about the possibility of a new FENCE at the north border of the school grounds, and a MESSAGE BOARD on the grounds, as well. Look for more details in an email this weekend, and we hope to see you Monday!
Screen Door Restaurant Night Fundraiser
Screen Door Restaurant Night was canceled last week due to the snow and ice, and has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, January 23, from 5-9pm! Screen door will generously donate 10% of dine-in, take-out AND delivery orders from the E Burnside location. Check out their menu here and call 503-542-0880 or order online here.
Family Gym Night Sunday
Family Gym Night Day is back on Sunday, January 21, from 10am - noon. Bring the whole family to the Irvington School Gym for music, organized games and free play. Past activities have included bowling, obstacle courses, community-building games, soccer, floor hockey, parachute, kids vs. adults games, and more. Enter through the gym doors at the back of the school and knock loudly when you arrive. Please come by any time during open hours. All kids should have a supervising adult present. Questions? Email familynight@irvingtonschool.com.
PTA/PPS Clothing Closet Volunteers Needed
The PTA/PPS Clothing Center is a volunteer-run closet of donated clothing. Irvington students and all students enrolled in PPS who are in need of clothing can visit the closet once before winter break and once after winter break. It’s all free, and this is where our clothing drive items will be donated to.
Twice per year, each participating school is responsible for staffing the clothing closet with 6 volunteers. Our day is coming up: Thursday, February 15, from 9:30am-1:30pm. Volunteers help with setting out inventory and accompanying families while they shop. Click here to learn more and sign up. For questions, please contact Jessica Farley at ptavp@irvingtonschool.com.
