Mary Woodward PSO Newsletter
June 2022
We've made it!
The year started without any family events, fundraisers or volunteers and finished with such a bang! It seemed like we had nonstop events for the last few weeks of the school year.
This year we were able to have an OBOB competition, 2 book fairs, 5 Art Lit lessons, weekly Mileage Club in the spring, a Jog-a-thon, garden clean up, book waterfall, bingo night, endless staff appreciation events and completed inventory of over 13,000 books for library inventory. I am in awe of the community that we have at Mary Woodward and so grateful for all those who are able to join in and make all of this possible!

2021-22 Reflection
2021-22 Fundraisers
Monica Bjers organized our dine out fundraisers. She did an amazing job of finding a wide variety of locations who were willing to donate a portion of the proceeds to Mary Woodward. And Mary Woodward families did an unbelievable job of showing up every time! More than once, the locations had to stop accepting orders because we had ordered so much!
Dine Out raised $6,486.55 this year.
Did you know that Mary Woodward has a Bottle Drop account? Blue bags for cans and bottles are available in the main office. All that you have to do it fill the bag and drop it off at the Bottle Drop and all the proceeds go to the Mary Woodward PSO. Jen Vasicek does a great job of keeping this going for us. (Tip: Now is the time to pick up some bags to get you through the summer!!)
Bottle Drop raised $130 this year.
Although the Jog-a-thon is normally held in the fall, we had to wait until TTSD allowed volunteers again. The Jog-a-thon took place on May 20th which turned out to be an overcast and not too hot day, just perfect for running! Kacie and Costa Capellas offered to step up and take charge of this event when we really needed them and did an amazing job planning, promoting, and problem solving. Although we had set a high goal of raising $30,000, Mary Woodward students blew that goal out of the water!
Jog-a-thon raised $42,364.95 this year.
We were lucky enough to have two Scholastic Book Fairs in person this year! Danielle Smart and Kim Matsler kept these running smoothly and we saw many satisfied customers leaving each day. Not only do book fairs help fill our homes with new books, they are one of the greatest funding sources for new books in our school library.
Scholastic Book Fairs raised $12,128.43 this year.
The Book Waterfall returned this year and so many families donated books. We had nearly every kind of book imaginable. Some of these books were added to the school library and many others were purchased by students. The Book Waterfall was only open for a short period, but still raised a good amount of money for the library.
Book Waterfall raised $275 this year.
