Content Description and Outcomes
If you have ever asked the questions, "WHY are some children disrespectful and unkind toward others?" and/or "HOW do we promote kindness and respect in our school creating a culture where everybody belongs?" and/or "WHEN" do we feel supported in our efforts to promote a positive school culture of kindness and respect knowing that we have reached a level to really make a difference?"
If YOU have answered YES to any of these questions, it is essential that you attend this workshop to discuss, examine and explore a variety of strategies and methods that will help to change your school culture and climate.
Outcomes
As a result of attending, Participants will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of strategies that build positivity within a school culture.
- Develop and use activities that promote kindness and respect among students and staff.
- Promote whole school engagement in common goals regarding positive school culture.
- Leave this round-table discussion with a variety of "tools" that will help in the overall process of BUILDING A POSITIVE SCHOOL CULTURE where kindness and respect becomes a perfect fit!
Round Table Leader: Percy Hill, Educational Leadership Consultant
During Percy Hill’s years in education, he received the New Hampshire Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NHAHPERD) “MERIT AWARD” in 1994, the MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR in 1997, and National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) TEACHER OF THE YEAR for New Hampshire in 1999. He was recognized with a proclamation for “EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION” from the Governor of New Hampshire and the House of Representatives in 2000…and again in 2012. In 2000, he received the “DISNEY AMERICAN TEACHER AWARD”. He was named 2008 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR. and received the 2008 New Hampshire EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARD.
In 2011,during his tenure as Assistant Principal in the Kearsarge School District, the Kearsarge Student Leaders were honored by the State Of New Hampshire to receive the “SPIRIT OF NEW HAMPSHIRE OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER CHAMPION AWARD” for their efforts with bully prevention education in the Kearsarge School District. Governor John Lynch and the New Hampshire House of Representatives followed with a CITATION congratulating Percy Hill and the KEARSARGE STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM for their efforts to educate others about BULLY PREVENTION in schools. In February of 2012, Percy Hill and the Kearsarge Student Leaders received NATIONAL RECOGNITION from the NATIONAL SCHOOL SAFETY ADVOCACY COUNCIL as the recipient of the program award recognition for OUTSTANDING ANTI-BULLYING EFFORTS AND COMMITMENT TO KEEPING STUDENTS SAFE.
Percy Hill also has worked as an adjunct faculty member at New England College in Henniker, NH and served as part time Assistant Principal at Ellis School in Fremont, NH for the 2015-2016 school year.
