One of the best feelings in the world is to see a child's "light bulb" moment. When your student suddenly gets it! This experience is hard to explain to people outside of education. Once kids make those connections and demonstrate the learning- its GOLD! Not only does this make you feel like a rock star, it gives our students a feeling of accomplishment and success. Those moments create growth mindset and agency for our kids.
It is so important to celebrate all successes, big or small. You should be assessing your students everyday. That does not mean you are giving a test daily. This could be an exit ticket, thumbs up/thumbs down, 4 corners, journal entries... there are so many ways to assess student learning! Designing assessment is part of your artistry and craft. Share within your PLC what you have used successfully and try a strategy a neighbor uses. Teaching is not done in a silo, bounce ideas and thoughts off your teammates. Share those GOLD moments with your PLC and grow capacity within our teams. We all can learn and grow from eachother.
