Principal's Message
Students stayed home on Friday, Oct. 22 so our amazing MHS staff could work together to improve the learning experience for students. Through training, discussions, and collaborative planning, our staff worked together to build upon their skills so as to improve the learning environment in our classrooms and to provide additional resources to support students who might be struggling in their current classes.
The work continues when students return as MHS staff put into practice material from Friday and make adjustments to better meet the needs of their students. We will continue to work to make those improvements so our students have more opportunities for success.
T-3 This Week
Sexual Health Education Curriculum Update:
Senate Bill 5395, passed by the State Legislature in 2020, requires that all schools provide comprehensive sexual health education.
Beginning in November, Meridian will form a Comprehensive Sexual Health Education Curriculum Identification Task Force consisting of Meridian teachers, staff, and parents or guardians and community members. The task force will recommend curriculum and educational materials for sexual health instruction. Recommended materials will be in alignment with the requirements of Senate Bill 5395 and the needs of our community.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to provide input during the curriculum identification process.
Upcoming opportunities to provide input:
Overview Webinar: Oct. 28, 6:00pm
Families are invited to attend an overview of the Comprehensive Sexual Health Education requirements and our process for identifying materials. This overview will be held via Zoom in order to accommodate all interested families safely. Families will also have an opportunity to complete a survey and provide input for use by the curriculum review committee.

Parents/Guardians and High School Students are invited to apply to join the curriculum identification task force. More information and the task force application can be found on the Meridian Committee and Advisory Group Webpage. Applications are due November 1, 2021.
Vector Alert
Vector Alert allows you to report an incident to MHS administration via text, email, web, or phone. To report an incident through Vector Alert, please go to the MHS homepage, click on the families and students tab and you will find Vector Alert in the drop down menu. It is helpful if incidents are reported immediately, so they can be handled in a timely manner.
Trojan Learning Center
TLC provides a quiet supported place for students to work on current assignments, catch up on missing assignments, or work on "Incompletes" from previous semesters.
TLC meets Monday-Thursday from 2:45-4:45.
* All students need to arrive by 2:45 to participate. If they arrive later, they need to have a note from the teacher they were with after school.
* All students sign in and sign out to track their attendance.
* Students taking the late bus home need to stay in TLC until 4:45 and then head out to catch the bus.
* Students driving themselves home or getting picked up can leave at other times.
