Volunteer Spotlight
Scholastic Book Fair- Another successful Scholastic Book Fair is in the books and countless books have found new homes in our classrooms and in our children’s hands!!! Even better is the fact that we have helped Scholastic buy hundreds of dollars of books for children in need thanks to YOUR generosity and the help of our AMAZING male teachers Mr. Behl, Mr. Custer, Mr. Guidetti, Mr. Kavitski, McLaughlin, Mr. VonDerStuck, and of course Mr. Quindlen!
ALL of the wonderful aspects of the Book Fair would not have been possible, though, without all of the contributions of our committee members and other volunteers especially Kasha Maxfield (Committee Lead), Dawn Wyzen, Cindy Burgy, Stephanie DerOhannessian, Hema Kothari, Lauren Withelder, Melinda Chiu, Heather Bilson, Melissa Iannucci, Michelle Daciw, Karen Siegel, Carrie Douglas, Janice Matier, Jamie Kern, Meredith Lawler, and Linda Quinney. Also, we had help from the wonderful GVHS students’ from the Interact club and of course the tireless help and support from Mr. Piasecki and Mrs. Allen. THANK YOU ALL!!!
Yankee Candle and Cherrydale Fundraiser - Thank you so much to Dawn Wyzen (Committee Lead), Julie Sharp (HSA Liaison), Cindy Burgy, Tara Czerwinski, Michelle Daciw, Melinda Grugan, Sherie Higgins, Don Maxfield, and Linda Quinney for all of your efforts to make this fundraiser a great success!

Discover Greece!
This Week's Fact About Greece: The Marathon Originated in Greece.
The men’s marathon has been an official part of the Olympic Games since the first modern Olympiad in 1896. It wasn’t until ninety-odd years later, in 1984, that the women’s marathon event was added to the Olympic program. Because of the event’s historic origins in ancient Greece, and the fitness levels required to run it competitively, the marathon is one of the most famous running events at the Olympics.
