Casa Grande Union High School District | July 2023
Interim Superintendent Message
We are ready for an exciting 2023-24 school year kick-off. Thank you to our 12-month employees for all their hard work in the summer heat to prepare our schools to open their doors on July 20. We also had some quality contractors working on our campus to complete some amazing building upgrades that I know the students and staff will appreciate. We will also open our new PACE High School at the District Office this year. There are openings at PACE if you are looking for a much smaller high school experience and an academic program geared toward workforce development and collaboration. I am excited to lead this organization and serve this community. Please reach out to me if I can be of service to your family. I hope all of you have a wonderful, enriching, and safe school year.
Jeff Lavender

FAFSA® Form
Each year, the U.S. Department of Education rewards over $120 billion in federal grants, loans, and work-study funds to more than 13 million students. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only way to apply for federal, state, and college aid. It is completely free and it typically takes ONLY 30 minutes to complete. Many schools offer money on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the sooner one applies, the better. For more information, visit your high school's webpage (CGUHS or VGHS).
PowerSchool App
The PowerSchool App is available for download on Android and Apple devices with the district code of QJDT. Your username and password are the same as you use to access the web-based PowerSchool portal.

Scholarship Opportunities
It is a known fact college is expensive and the cost is rising. Do not let that deter you from applying for college. There are many opportunities to help you cover the cost of college. Scholarships are gifts of "free money" that do not need to be paid back, unlike student loans. Most scholarships can be awarded based on merit, which means that students earn them for having good grades, athletic talent, volunteering, or even for a certain demographic. Every year, hundreds of billions of dollars are awarded in scholarship money. There are many sources of scholarship, such as colleges and universities, military, individuals, communities, nonprofits, ethnic/historical organizations, businesses, religious groups, and more. Some scholarships are highly selective but many are not. The best practice is to apply for as many scholarships as possible and start early.
