Kids Heart Challenge kicks off next week!
I hope everyone is excited for our upcoming Kids Heart Challenge VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY on Monday! This interactive assembly will bring our school community together to have some fun and rally around physical and mental wellness. Students will learn how to keep their hearts healthy and happy, families will be challenged to get active and we’ll all learn how we can help others with special hearts!
The American Heart Association will lead a livestream assembly just for our students on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1st @ 2:30 PM on Zoom Link: https://heart.zoom.us/j/81902154363?pwd=NCtETWJsM1JEQ244UFBwblpaajU4Zz09
In the meantime, help your child sign up by downloading the FREE “Kids Heart Challenge” App or visit http://www2.heart.org/goto/ewingyoung. If 100 students register online and take the challenge, Mr. Quinn will get pied in the face!

3rd Grade with Mrs. Wiard
We are learning lots in third grade!
In language arts, we have been learning all about expository text and how we get information through different text features. We have been reading about Space and students are constructing Google slideshows about a self-selected planet. This challenges students to research, design, and share planet information with peers.
In math, we have recently been working on addition and subtraction strategies and how to regroup into the 1,000s. Next up is perimeter and elapsed time before we launch into fractions. Multiplication and division continue to be important topics.
In science, it is all about the Biodome, which is a state-of-the-art greenhouse that mimics a rainforest environment. Currently, we are studying the life cycles of other organisms, while looking at traits that animals of the same species share and inherit.
Lots of fun, exploration, and learning!
