The Good News - May 28, 2023

This weekend, the Church celebrates Pentecost, one of the most important feast days of the year that concludes the Easter season and celebrates the beginning of the Church.

Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church - Peter, the first Pope, preaches for the first time and converts thousands of new believers. The apostles and believers, for the first time, were united by a common language, and a common zeal and purpose to go and preach the Gospel.

As we celebrate Pentecost today the Gospel reminds us that the Holy Spirit has the power to reach every one of us and surround us with peace and faith.

May the Holy Spirit move in your life today and always!!!

Get ready for our 1st annual Pie Throwing Fundraiser. Imagine the joy of watching your favorite teachers and staff members become targets of silly, splat-tastic fun!

For just $1 you can enter the raffle for a chance to throw a pie at your teacher or principal.

It's your time to shine as you take aim and let those whipped cream pies fly through the air to help raise funds for a great cause.

This fundraiser is dedicated to supporting our Chalice Foster children. Every dollar raised will go towards providing them with essential resources, support, and opportunities for a brighter future. It's an amazing chance to make a difference in the lives of children who truly deserve our help and love.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the volunteers who attended our Volunteer Appreciation Event. Your unwavering dedication and support have made a tremendous impact on our school community. Your commitment to our students and staff has not gone unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and effort you have dedicated throughout the year.

To celebrate our year and each other, we’d like to keep the Kindergarten tradition and offer parents the opportunity to order a T-shirt for their Kindergarten Milestone! It will celebrate St. John XXIII on the front and on the back it will have Kinder Grad 2023 and your child's signature along with the signatures from everyone from their class. T-shirts are available to order in youth and adult sizes. The PowerSchool form will open Monday, May 29th at 9am and close on Monday, June 5th at noon. Please refer to the button at the bottom of every newsletter for information on how to order through PowerSchool.

Lifetouch spring photo proofs have been sent home, if you would like to submit your order to the office, they are due by noon, Friday, June 2nd. Any orders after noon on June 2 will need to be submitted online.

Note - ALL spring orders will be mailed to your home (as we will not receive the photos before last day of school).

As the school year comes to an end, we would like to inform you that it’s time to update your child’s 2023-2024 Demographic Validation Form. Having the most up-to-date information about our students ensures that we receive all available funding to support your child's learning as well as current information to reach you during the day if necessary.

We ask that you please complete this form in Powerschool

You can follow these steps to access, review and submit the form:

1. Log into Powerschool at https://eics.powerschool.com/

2. Under the “Forms & Fees” menu click “School Engage Student Forms”

3. Students - Select your child’s name (please complete one form for each child)

4. Click on the word “New” beside the form name 2023-2024 Demographic Validation

Our students LOVED it! It was definitely a unique and memorable experience.

We extend our warmest appreciation to the families and kids who joined us for the rainbow trout fry release at West Rivers Edge Pond on Saturday. There was a lot of joy and excitement in the kids faces as they released the trout. Thank you for joining us in this educational and fun-filled experience, as we nurture a love for our environment.

To register in the Nature Kindergarten program at St. John XXIII, please follow the registration link, complete the Kindergarten registration form and then complete the Nature Kindergarten form. This program is offered on a first come, first served basis.

• Age requirement is 5 years old by December 31, 2023
• Nature Kindergarten will run Tuesdays, Thursdays and scheduled Fridays for the 2023-2024 school year.
• Fees: $425 per month

Kindergarten and NEW student registration is now open. The registration form allows parents to choose Kindergarten scheduling preferences. Please note these will be number dependent. Please register early as class placements will take into account: class sizes, student's needs, and scheduling requests.

In addition to attending Kindergarten at their community school, EICS offers a supplemental Nature Kindergarten program which operates Tuesday/Thursday and some Fridays. This paid program offers students the opportunity to learn through explorative play, providing an option to attend kindergarten full time.
