Changes to a students' after school routine
If your child normally takes the bus but you will be picking them up after school, please write a note in your students agenda. This way the teacher is aware of the change and can help them at the end of the day.
If it is a last minute change, please contact the office and we will call into the classroom. This way we hope to minimize interruptions to student learning.
Have your ordered a yearbook yet?
The cost for the 2023-24 Pine Street Yearbook is $26USD. To order you will need to go online to www.treering.com/validate and use our unique school code (1014762959353462). From here, you will follow the prompts to create an account and link to your student(s), which should already be loaded in the system. If you created an account last year, you simply log in and select this year. Please note that when entering your child’s name, use only his/her FIRST and LAST Names (no middle names or initials).
Parents Corner - MATH
What tips can I use to Help my Child? Be positive about math!
- Let your child know that everyone can learn math.
- Let your child know that you think math is important and fun. Make math part of your child’s day.
- Include your child in everyday activities that involve math making purchases, measuring ingredients, counting out plates and utensils for dinner.
- Play games and do puzzles with your child that involve math. They may focus on direction or time, logic and reasoning, sorting, or estimating. Encourage your child to give explanations.
- When your child is trying to solve a problem, ask what they are thinking. If your child seems puzzled, ask them to tell you what doesn’t make sense. (Talking about their ideas and how they reach solutions helps children learn to reason mathematically.)
- Treat errors as opportunities to help your child learn something new.
Pine Street's Clubs are fun!
Pine Street super staff are at it again!
Mr. Yung has created a black belt fitness club for students in grades 4, 5 and 6. Students meet in the gym for a workout at lunch recess once per week.
Mr. Hopkins has started a drawing club for students in grades 4, 5 and 6. Students meet in Mr. Hopkin's classroom on Mondays at lunch recess.
Mrs. Weber is coaching volleyball to the grade 5 and 6 students at lunch recess in preparation for a tournament December 2 at Davidson Creek!
First Nations' Friday
The Eagle, another of the Seven Sacred Teachings teaches us about love. We need to love of ourselves, and it is understood that if one cannot love oneself, it is impossible to love anyone else.
Arbor Day Tree
Last year our grade 1 classes won a prize on Arbor Day. Our new pine tree was planted and looks beautiful!
