Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
I hope you have all had a great week!
College and Career Week has been a success and we featured our career fair, college application workshops, and site visits from multiple colleges. The week culminates with Future Fest, a college and career fair at Grossmont College. The event is open to all students.
End of Quarter 1
Next week is the last week of the first quarter and grades close on Thursday. This can be a stressful week for students and staff. Please check in with your Cougars, offer words of encouragement, and give them a big hug. They have worked hard and deserve to be as relaxed as possible for their end of quarter assessments. There is no school for students next Friday, October 13. We hope it is a day of celebration and relaxation after a quarter of hard work.
Governing Board Election
The Ballots have been printed, stuffed, and mailed. I would like to offer a big thank you to the three candidates who are vying for our vacant community governing board seat. I would like to thank (in alpha order) Nicole Hall, Jerry Lancaster, and Susanna Martin for their interest in contributing to our community through school governance. Operating as an independent charter school is a major responsibility to our community of families and all three are deserving of our consideration. The ballots have been mailed and the voting period opens Monday and concludes on October 23 at 3:30 PM. Ballots can be returned by mail or in person in our front office.
Our PTO is hosting a community forum next Thursday, October 12 at 6:00 PM. Please attend and get to know the candidates.
Parent Engagement Survey
Partnering with our parents is vital to the success of our students and our organization. We host a variety of public opportunities to engage our families but know many are unable to attend. We are always looking for new ways to engage our families and hope that you will help us better facilitate parent & family involvement by taking this brief, 3 question survey. Click HERE
Thank you for choosing Steele Canyon and making our school a great place to work and learn.
Have an awesome weekend!
Rah! Rah! Cougars!

Attendance Matters
Showing up for school has a huge impact on student success. Even in high school, families play a key role in making sure students get to school every day, and on time. Daily and timely attendance is important for school and on the job.
You can monitor your student's attendance in Aeries. Daily notifications regarding attendance are sent out through ParentSquare. If you have not downloaded the App yet, we encourage you to do so, as this is where all important school announcements are sent.
Please review our Attendance Procedures and Policies on our website and reach out to your student's grade level team with any questions or concerns.

Comedy show event - Mitochondrial Club
Hey Cougars! Steele Canyon’s Mitochondrial Club is preparing for its annual Comedy show event on November 18th in Alpine, California!
With all funds raised for UCSD’s Mitochondrial Disease Research, we feature stand-up comedians for the entirety of the night, live performances by the Sonjorombe band, food/dessert, and amazing prizes raffled throughout the night!
Tickets are currently being sold and we need your help! It would be amazing if you, a parent, friend, or even a family member could attend or simply donate to this event which serves an amazing cause!
Lastly, as mentioned above, we are raffling prizes all night! Mitochondrial Club receives donations to support our raffle every year. We encourage you to help us in any way possible collect more raffle items! Whether it may be from a well-known friend who is willing to donate gift cards, or even contacting well-known companies like Starbucks it would be very much appreciated!
