2 Hour Delay Schedule
- The doors will open at 10:25AM.
- School starts at 10:40AM.
- There will be no breakfast on 2 hour delay days except for those that attend the YMCA.
eLearning Day (asynchronous)
This type of day is not live instruction. Students will access posted learning materials in Seesaw or Google Classroom. Lessons should be completed within five school days to count as present for the day. eLearning days do not require students to participate in Zoom calls at designated times.
Real Time Learning Day (synchronous)
This type of day is live instruction from teachers at designated times. Students are expected to join live instruction at specified times to receive instruction and attendance confirmation. See the schedule below.
February 19th-No School
There will be no school on February 19th due to Presidents' Day.

Solar Eclipse
The MSD of Martinsville will operate on an eLearning Day on April 8, 2024, and a Real Time Learning day on April 9, 2024, due to the solar eclipse. Please text to morgancoineclipse2024 to 69310 to receive information from the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency.
South Elementary Clubs/Teams
MATH Bowl
MATH Bowl meets on Thursdays after school. The practice competition will be on February 27th at Bell Intermediate School at 5PM.
Chess Club
ROBOTICS
Congratulations South Robotics team and coaches on a successful first competition! Robo-dolphins placed 8th; earning their way into qualifying matches which landed them in 5th place. Dolphins-bots did well for their first competition. With more practice the teams will be ready for their next competition on 2/17 in Brazil, IN. Thank you to our coaches, Mrs. Willard and Mrs. Hessler! Great Job, South Dolphins 🐬

Title I Information
Please welcome Jessica Shanafelt as our new Title I teacher! We are excited that Ms. Shanafelt is returning to South.
Federal funding has been made available through school-wide Title I services to South Elementary for the purpose of providing students with extra support in reading and language arts. This extra support is available for all students at South Elementary. Classroom teachers, Title I teachers, and instructional assistants will provide assistance in reading, language arts, and math through small group and individual instruction as children demonstrate need for support. Please contact Jessica Shanafelt, Title I teacher, at 765-349-1486 with any questions about support your child may receive.A Note from Mrs. Wadlington, School Counselor

Want to get involved?!? Join South Elementary School PTO!!! The monthly meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month at 7PM. Our next meeting will be on February 6th at 7PM in the library. PTO has spirit wear available for purchase.

If You Give A Child A Book Event-Sponsored by WRTV, Scripps Howard Foundation, & Scholastic
We had a great day celebrating National Reading Day and the "If You Give A Child A Book" event. Students were happy to get to choose 4 free books to take home. Thank you Howard Scripps Fund, WRTV, and Scholastic for this opportunity for our students. Students celebrated at the South Starbooks Cafe with books and snacks. Thank you to Martinsville Starbucks for their donations. Thank you to our guest readers from the community for helping to make this day special. Thank you to our authors, Jessica Hostetter and Cathy Fragale, for sharing your books with our students. It was a great day to be a South Dolphin!
Spelling Bee Winner & Runner Up
Congratulations to the South Elementary Spelling Bee Winner and Runner Up! Great job to all participants!
2nd 9 Weeks All A Honor Roll
Students that earned all A's second 9 weeks enjoyed a Red Carpet lunch with Mrs. Meyer. Congratulations to all the students! Keep up the great work!

PLTW Learning Trips
Students enjoyed their time and had a great learning experience at the Brooklyn Stem Lab for the Project Lead the Way Learning Trip.
