Are You Joining Us?
Even though we don’t have school tomorrow, we’ll still have our Homecoming parade. You and your family are welcome to join us as well. If you are planning to walk, please arrive by 5:00 pm at Sherman Park dressed in Brandon/Harvey Swanson gear for the start of the parade at 5:30 pm. The parade will finish at Harvey Swanson and then we can head over to the game. We hope to see you there!
Fall Festival is Next Week!
This year the Fall Festival will also include our famous Scare Fair. This is open to the entire family and even friends! Keep in mind, this is our main fundraising event for the school year which will help to pay for assemblies, field trips, Science Alive, and much more for our students.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are in need of parents/families to volunteer on the night of to help make this evening a success. We‘ll need volunteers to run the games and food station. In addition we need volunteers to dress up as characters from the movie Monsters University to be actors in the maze (script and costume provided). If you can help in any way, please let us know in the office by Monday, October 17th.
Harvey Swanson Blood Drive
We surpassed our goal last night! We had 25 donors donate blood. It’s amazing how giving blood can benefit so many. Well done Harvey Swanson Families!
Halloween Fun
Halloween at Harvey Swanson is going to be great! We will have a parade that will begin at 10:00 and lead through town. We will return to Harvey Swanson in time for classroom parties.
When planning costumes for your child, please keep in mind we have younger students in the building. We remind the students each day that school is a safe place and keeping with that theme, please do not send in pretend weapons or wear gory or violent costumes (this also includes blood.) It will scare some of our students and we want this to be a fun event for all. As always, we thank you in helping keep activities appropriate and exciting for all ages of our students.
H.E.L.P. Meeting
Thank you to the H.E.L.P. group for providing dinner for the teachers and staff during conferences. It was great to enjoy dinner as a staff as we prepared for meaningful conversations with our families.
Did you know Harvey Swanson Elementary is a Title 1 school? This means that we receive money from the federal government to use for instructional purposes with our students.
Harvey Swanson is a school-wide Title 1 school which means that we are able to use
materials and services purchased with Title 1 money to benefit all of our students.
At the October H.E.L.P. meeting on the 20th, at 6 p.m. I will share details about our Title
1 status and how we use those funds at Harvey Swanson. Please plan to attend the H.E.L.P.
meeting in the Harvey Swanson library to hear this important information.
Square One Art
There is nothing like a handmade art project. On October 17, you will receive a custom catalog including your child's artwork to select and purchase keepsakes from. The orders will be due on October 31. The products will be ready for delivery back to you by November 18 just in time for the holidays.
