Board Votes to Recommend Masks
November 9, 2021
Dear Caldwell Families,
I want to update you on some action taken by the Board of Trustees at their Regular Meeting on Monday, November 8, 2021. Due to the recent approval of the Pfizer vaccine becoming available for children 5-11 years old, the Board revisited the mask requirement. This was one of the three conditions the Board had identified in order to revisit the mask expectation.
After reviewing and discussing recent COVID-19 data and information, Trustees voted to recommend masks. Masks have been required for all students and staff.
The recommendation will take effect on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. The Board will continue to review COVID-19 data and absentee reports for both students and staff. The Board will revisit the mask expectation in the coming weeks if necessary.
The goal of the district is to keep school open and students attending every day.
We are still encouraging our families to support this goal by doing the following to reduce the spread of the virus in our schools and our community:
Please do not send your children to school if they are sick or have been exposed to a COVID positive individual or family member;
If your child is waiting on a COVID test result, please do not send them to school;
Please consider getting a COVID vaccination for individuals age five or older in your family. Here’s a site to schedule an appointment: https://phd3.idaho.gov/covid19/#Vaccine.
As a reminder, during regular school hours, all visitors to our schools or district facilities are still required to wear masks. In addition, a student or staff member may be required to wear a mask as part of COVID exposure protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control.
We appreciate your partnership during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Dr. N. Shalene French
Superintendent
