Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
BHS was a busy place this week as our various athletic teams celebrated their seniors, our dedicated teachers pulled off parent/teacher conferences with the highest number of scheduled conferences ever, our students were treated to a career fair with 26 different employers and/or training programs, and our counselors held the BHS Academic Options Information Night with our AP teachers and students showcasing our amazing programs! These events are simply a glimpse into some of the amazing opportunities that are available for the students at Batavia High School. Of course, none of this is possible without the highly-dedicated teachers who care about your kids and work hard for them every day!
Although we have several months left in the 2023-2024 school year, we are just at the beginning of the course selection process for the 2024-2025 school year! One important event that we hope our parents will attend is the Parent Scheduling Information Night on February 22nd from 6:00p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Batavia High School. This is a great opportunity to learn about the high school scheduling process as well as have some of your questions answered.
Remember that next week is a four-day week for our students. On Friday, February 16th, our teachers will be involved in Professional Learning. This will give your students a well-deserved four-day weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

2024-25 FAFSA Update:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2024-25 academic year has undergone many changes, been updated for 2024, and is currently having a "soft launch". The website is up and running, but will be temporarily shut down occasionally for maintenance and updates. Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources as they are received.
Here is the link to a short video that explains what the FAFSA is: What is FAFSA?
We have also included the link to a slightly lengthier video that explains the entire FAFSA application process and answers many of your questions: The 2024-2025 Financial Aid Process
The student, as well as the parents/guardians must have their own FSA ID to begin the FAFSA application process. Here is the link to create your FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Lastly, here is the link to begin your FAFSA application: StudentAid.Gov
Updated Scholarship List:
Another option to look at opportunities for additional funding for college is by applying for scholarships. BHS Guidance updates this list regularly as new scholarships are shared with us. Here is a link to the most recent list that is shared with all seniors:
