We have had a great start to this school year and have really enjoyed having kids back in the building! We've been busy since we've had students back in the building and have some important updates for you. Please take a look at several important items below and as always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

You are invited to a Community Coffee at Oakland-Craig High School on Tuesday, September 19 at 7:30 a.m. Take this opportunity to ask any questions you have or simply chat with the administrative team. We will be meeting in the old gym.

Is your child using SnapChat? If so, I've included a couple of tips for parents.

1. Did you know your child's exact location can be seen on the Snap Map? To turn off this feature follow the below steps:

• Click on Settings (Phone Settings, not SnapChat Settings yet)
• Scroll down and click on "SnapChat"
• Next to "Location" select "Never"
• Open the SnapChat app
• Click on your child's BitMoji in the top left hand corner of the screen
• Click the gear (Settings) in the top right hand corner of the screen
• Scroll and select "See My Location" under "Privacy Controls"
• Adjust them based on your preferences

2. Kids can also hide images within SnapChat. Check these by following the below steps:

• Open the SnapChat app
• On the screen in which you can take a picture, click the image icon in the bottom left corner (two angled rectangles)
• Scroll through the options (Snap, Camera Roll, Screenshots, Stories, My Eyes Only) and click on "My Eyes Only"
• If your child has this set up you can view images they have purposely hidden from others

Oakland-Craig partners with Striv to stream extra-curricular events. We typically stream every home varsity game and a couple JV and JH games each season. Streaming is determined by student availability as it takes people to run the camera and program. You can find our Striv website on our school website and linked below. In addition, we have posted links to our opponents streaming accounts as well. There is a button on our school homepage titled "Away Game Streams."

We completed several projects over the summer. Please click on the link below to see the before and after pictures. I'd like to remind everyone that the funds used for the majority of these projects come out of the Special Building Fund. This fund can only be used on buildings and grounds. We cannot pay for classroom supplies, staffing, etc. out of this fund.

We welcome parents, grandparents, and mentors to eat lunch at school with our students. We ask; however, that visitors notify the office by 9:00 a.m. if they are eating school lunch as our kitchen staff needs to prepare appropriate amounts of food. In addition, we ask that children that aren't in school do not attend with you (i.e. siblings that aren't yet school age, etc.) as that can become a distraction. Lastly, visitors should sign out in the office immediately after lunch unless permission has been granted to remain in the building or on school grounds by the building principal.

Are you cleaning out closets? Changing out some home décor? If so, Oakland-Craig School Foundation is partnering with Junk in the Trunk to help generate funds for the Foundation. If you request your 30% proceeds from the items you take into Junk in the Trunk to go to the Foundation, you will be helping students and staff with scholarships and grant projects to benefit the Oakland-Craig School Community. Be sure and let Junk in the Trunk to use the account number 2406 to support the Foundation.
