As we enter February, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month at GCSU. This is a time to honor the rich history, achievements, and contributions of Black individuals and communities throughout history and today.

Throughout the month, the Cultural Center is hosting a series of programs and events to celebrate and educate. From thought-provoking lectures and discussions to vibrant cultural performances and exhibitions, there is something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.

We invite you to explore our full calendar of events to participate and celebrate with us. Let's come together to honor the past, celebrate the present, and shape the future as we continue to learn from and uplift each other's stories and experiences.

On February 15th, the Cultural Center and the GCSU Library will be partnering for our Black Women Authors Read Out. The event will be held in Library Room 302 from 1-3PM, and everyone is invited to participate. This will be an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to celebrate their favorite Black female authors as well as learn more about other Black female authors through hearing their work.

Put your singing skills to the test while uplifting the voices of your favorite black queer artists this Black History Month! Join us Feb. 15 at 7pm in The Hub to channel your inner Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, Prince, and more--See you there!

Throughout the month of February, the Cultural Center will be having our Amplifying Black Voices Lunch & Learn series. Join us on February 9th, 16th, and 23rd at noon in Blackbridge Hall to hear from GCSU faculty and staff (Drs. Ernie Kaninjing, Shaundra Walker, and Michael Snowden) as they discuss an issue or topic important to them. We will also provided complimentary lunch, we hope to see you there!

Are you interested in showcasing your talents to represent the evolution of Motown? We welcome singing, lip synching, dancing, spoken word, poetry, or other creative expressions celebrating Motown! Scan the QR code or sign up here.

Join us Tuesday, February 20 during Tupperware Tuesday (5-7pm) as we screen the film "Civil," highlighting the life and work of Benjamin Crump as he "challenges America to come to terms with what it owes his clients.”
