Panther Prowl
Corona High School - A Tradition of Excellence Since 1896
Greetings, Panther Families!
Happy Fall! Next week is Halloween, and as many schools do, we allow students to wear costumes if they choose. In addition to expecting students to still follow CNUSD dress code guidelines and as safety precautions, we ask that students NOT wear masks (we still need to be able to identify them) and to not bring weapons (real or toy).
REMINDER: Parents, please take a few minutes to complete our district's technology survey by following this link: www.BByt.es/UM6YP. The purpose of this survey is for CNUSD to determine the best way to support technology implementation at each school site, including Corona High School. As we move to increase technology access for our students, your input is vital. Thank you for your support.
Proud Principal,
Antonio Gonzalez, Ed.D.

VEX Robotics
This past wekend, our Robotics team competed at a stand-alone tournament at King High School. It started a bit rough as we went 2-3 in our qualifying matches. Going into the final bracket, our team was selected as the number 7 seed, so in the quarterfinals we had to compete against the number 2 seed. It was a very close and tough match, but our team came out victorious by defeating the favorites to win. When we advanced to the semi-finals, we had to go against the number 3 seed. Again, in a close match, our team pulled out another upset and won the match and made it to the finals! This team has been competing for the past three years and this is the first time we've made it this far. In a very tough and much disputed match, our very own Corona High Robotics team won the tournament! This victory qualifies us to compete at the State level tournament in March.
Despite the rough start, where everything wrong happened, this team showed some true Resilience in the face of adversity. They never gave up on themselves and showed what is means to be a Panther!!! Congratulations to Joshua Vera, Victor Ceja, Stephanie Rocco, and Marchelo Quiroz, for representing Corona High School with class. We are hoping to win our league in December in preparation for State. Qualifying at State allows us to compete at the World championships in Kentucky. RAWR!!!

Fall Sports
Football: Join us tonight for our final home game of the year. We will be hosting Santiago High School for Senior Night and will be recognizing 48 seniors from football, cheer, band, and color guard.
Girls Tennis: We hosted Norco High School on October 23rd, which also served as our Senior Night. We recognized Evelyn Alcaraz, Mia Clayton, Rachel Flood, Trelyn Nguyen, and Melanie Servin.
Boys Water Polo: The Big VIII league finals will be held at Norco High School on October 30th in their aquatics stadium. Please come out and support our Panthers!
Girls Golf: Our Panthers competed in the Big VIII league prelims, unfortunately, none of the girls qualified for finals. Leah Hellerud finished in 17th place and missed league finals by only 4 strokes. Regardless, the season was a success having recorded our first two league wins over Centennial and Norco. We are all proud of our golfers!
Misc
Girls Wrestling: Our team competed in Las Vegas with 22 wrestlers, 18 of them being their first time in this grueling national preseason tournament. We came home with 3 national place winners, including 123 pound Freakshow National Champion Solana Mottola, who defeated the California state champion in the semifinals and the Arizona state champion in the finals. Solana became our 3rd Champion in 5 years. She had 128 girls in her weight class. Also placing in their 64 girl brackets were Mariah Dow (5th) and Madyson Dow (6th). It was another amazing preseason accomplishment for ALL our wrestlers as we prepare for our CIF season! Way to go, Panthers!
Lacrosse: Corona High School has been selected to receive US Lacrosse First Stick Grant to help kick off our first-ever lacrosse teams (boys and girls)!
Alumni News: Class of 2019 all-CIF player, Gaven Ramirez (currently playing for Carroll College, one of the top NAIA schools in the country) played against Oregon State in a exhibition basketball game.

The goal is to challenge students, parents, staff, and the community to participate in simple random acts of kindness. Students and staff are encouraged to share their stories of kindness via social media using the hashtag #CNUSDisKind and/or #CNUSDitTakesaVillage
