NASSP Annual Building Ranks Survey
Last year, parents, staff, and students (grades 3-12) took the NASSP Building Ranks Survey about our school’s culture. From November 27 through December 8, 2023, CCPS will once again be giving the Building Ranks survey to parents, staff, students (grades 3-12), and community partners. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in improving our school culture. Be on the lookout for the school-specific link that I will send out the week of November 27. We greatly value your thoughts. If you don’t wish for your child to participate in the student survey, please let us know by completing this student opt out form by November 21 https://forms.gle/VJwz8bqMXTZvZVrN8. All students in grades 3-5 will take this survey on Monday Nov 27.
Thank you Clover Hill Church for your $1000 donation to our school!
VADOE All in Tutoring Oppty for Qualifying Students Grades 3-5
A letter is now available in ParentVUE for students in grades 3-8 who qualify for additional tutoring. Please log into ParentVUE to learn if your child meets the criteria to receive additional support and next steps. This initiative is specific to math and/or reading for students in grades 3-8. Families will receive a separate letter in ParentVUE for each student in these grades who qualifies for additional tutoring. Please note that a letter will only be present for students who qualify for additional tutoring. If your student does not qualify, no letter will be present in ParentVUE.
In September 2023, the Virginia Department of Education released an ALL In initiative to partner with parents of students in grades 3-8 in the areas of tutoring, literacy and attendance. Based on guidance standards set forth by VDOE, test scores were used to determine whether students could benefit from additional tutoring support:
- For students currently in third grade, the fall 2023 Virginia Growth Assessment was used.
- For students in grades 4-8, the spring 2023 Standards of Learning test was used.
VDOE parent resources for the All In initiative can be viewed at doe.virginia.gov/teaching-learning-assessment/all-in-tutoring. Use the mobile ParentVUE app or click here to log into the ParentVUE web platform to see if your child qualifies for more tutoring, and respond if necessary by Friday, Nov. 10. If you have trouble accessing ParentVUE, please contact your school.
PTA Holiday Shop Dec 2
On Saturday, December 2nd 2023, the SRES PTA is hosting a Holiday Shop! This shop is a little different from last year-as we are running a one day shop only, as opposed to a week long shop. Families are encouraged to bring their students on Saturday to shop for their loved ones. The vendor that we are going through this year is Penguin Patch, and the gift prices range from 50 cents to $12, with 75% of the gifts being $5 or less!
In order for this event to take place, we would need volunteers to help with setting up on Friday 12/1 and assisting the students on the day of, Saturday 12/2. Please take a look at the volunteer options below and consider signing up today! You may sign up for more than one time slot :). Thank you for all your help!
RAFFLE: we are having a raffle for the volunteers! Any person who has signed up to volunteer by 11/25 will be entered into a drawing to receive 1 of 10 $10 holiday shop gift certificates! We appreciate all the help :) Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F4AA5AC29A2FA7-46019416-sres?useFullSite=true#/
Student Art Contest
You’re invited to use your creativity to brighten a new headquarters being built for Chesterfield County Public Schools. Construction is underway on the office building (located on Midlothian Turnpike and named Springline at District 60) that is expected to open in 2025.
It’s important that the headquarters show that students are at the center of Chesterfield County Public Schools, and incorporating art by our creative and talented student artists will make that clear.
All students in Chesterfield County Public Schools (from prekindergarten through 12th grade) are encouraged to create an original work of visual art in a medium of their choice that expresses the contest theme of “Better Together.” Designs will be judged on the creative use and communication of the theme. Only two-dimensional works, please. Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2024.
One overall winner from each level (elementary, middle and high) will be chosen and announced in February. Each winning entry, along with many of the works submitted for this contest, will be used as inspiration and reproduced within the overall interior design of the school system’s new headquarters.
There are two ways to submit artwork:
Option 2: Submit the original artwork and this permission form to your school’s main office.Student Council Coats for Kids Drive

November PTA Updates
PTA Families,
Thank you for all of your help getting the word out to your friends and families about our Raise Craze fundraiser. We raised $48,512, and the PTA gets to keep $44,349, over 91%!!! Our students also completed 3,461 Acts of Kindness, an average of almost 4 Acts of Kindness per student, logged in our system. But we know the Acts of Kindness are continuing even with the end of the program. THANK YOU to the other five members of the Raise Craze committee: Maggie Lenart, Chris Plunkett, Ashlee Creador, Carrie Hawes, and Katie Hood. Thank you to all of our volunteers during our Opening Ceremony, Service Night, and Closing Ceremony. Without the time put in by our Committee, and help from our volunteers, we wouldn't have been able to make this our MOST SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER EVER!!!!
The money we raised from this fundraiser drives all of our opportunities to enhance the school for this year. We are focusing the money towards educational efforts at the school along with our commitment to keeping our large events free (Family Fun Night, STEAM Night, Dances). With this being our first year conducting Raise Craze, we have learned so much. We are also open to constructive feedback and welcome new ideas. Please email me directly at President@springrunpta.com with any thoughts.
We have no school 11/6-11/7 and 11/22-11/24. Join us for our last PTA Meeting of 2023 on Tuesday, November 28 - when we will be joined by our 5th grade team, with updates on what to expect for the rest of the year, as students round out their elementary school experience and learn about middle school.
Save the date for Saturday, December 2 for our Holiday Shop! Look for more information and how to get involved with this soon.
Thank you,
Katie Adcock

PTA Meeting - Tuesday, November 28
Our last PTA meeting of 2023 is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28 at 7pm in the library. Join us virtually if you can't make it in person, though our in person attendees get to enjoy snacks provided by the PTA. This month our 5th grade team will be joining us, and we will be hearing more about what to expect for the remainder of 5th grade and the transition into middle school.
Volunteer of the Month!!
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Carrie Hawes!
She has been an incredible silent helper. Every PTA event flyer you’ve received this year and many event graphics have come from her. She has designed and re-designed based on our PTA needs. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. She is also responsible for planning our entire Service Night, held in early October. She planned all of the service projects, organized all supplies, organized the locations, signs, and instructions, and when she got COVID just a few days before was able to give clear and concise instructions for us to pull off the event seamlessly. We are so happy to have Carrie Hawes helping us out as a volunteer this year! Carrie is our Volunteer of the Month, showing that much work can be done outside of the school building.
Carrie received a $15 gift card to Amazon and will get to park in the Volunteer of the Month spot until our next meeting at the end of November.
Thank you, Carrie, and congratulations!!
October Activities: Service Night
We had so much fun at our first ever Service Night! From making wreaths and blankets for Ronald McDonald House, collecting food for the Chesterfield County Food Bank, chalking the walk with positive messages, making thank you posters for support staff throughout the school, and many other activities, we had something for everyone! Thank you to everyone who volunteered - we were so pleased to see so many Acts of Kindness as our school community came together to pay it forward to others!
