A message from our Upper Campus Head of School, Dr. Priscilla Noble
Hello GLOBE families,
Welcome to our fourth week of school. Since our pre-planning meetings, we have been listening keenly to our teachers and the GLOBE community. We will continue to work hard to incorporate suggestions into our planning and our actions.
If we have not met, I am Dr. Priscilla Noble, and I am the Head of School for Upper Campus. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, my parents met when my mom, who is a native of Virginia, travelled there with the Peace Corps in the 60s. I grew up a native speaker of English and Spanish and attended a bilingual school where I also learned French. Growing up in the D.R. and with frequent trips to the US to visit family, I was immersed in the customs and traditions of both countries. My Dominican family also has roots from cultures all around the world, including African, Middle Eastern, and European.
I am beyond thrilled to lead The GLOBE Academy’s Upper Campus. This is my 28th year in education. In my work as a teacher, leader and administrator, I have overseen professional learning communities and directed the sharing of best practices and coached teachers as we collaborate, use data to drive instruction, and tackle students’ learning needs. In curriculum design, I have also helped to integrate project-based instruction into teacher’s practice (in Montreal, in Georgia, and in the Dominican Republic).
We are looking forward to more activities this school year that will incorporate the whole family. For example, our students at all levels will begin preliminary research for their science projects in the next few weeks. We have also started to plan the details of Hispanic Heritage celebrations.
Our 4th and 5th grade teachers have started implementing the Illustrative Mathematics Curriculum that is culturally responsive and grade-appropriate. Just like we seek their depth of knowledge in the second language, these math lessons encourage our students to know, use, and enjoy mathematics.
In my free time I enjoy reading, running, and the outdoors, as well as dancing merengue, salsa, and bachata. My son Rey is a sophomore at St. Pius X High School, and my daughter Caitlin just started Environmental Policy and Economics at UGA. Whenever we can, our family goes biking, hiking, camping, and SCUBA diving.

Upper Campus Picture Day will be held on September 12 - read flyer. Lower Campus Picture Day will be held on September 19 - read flyer.
Please note, all students must be in compliance with the school uniform policy on Picture Day.

Back to School Ice Cream Social - Volunteers Needed!
We’ll celebrate the new school year at Upper Campus on Thursday, September 8, from 3:45pm to 5pm. The Atlanta Ice Cream Truck will be there with delicious sweet treats. Parents and siblings are welcome to get some ice cream too. Parking will be available at Church In Atlanta starting at 3:45pm. Volunteers still needed - sign up here!
