Remembering the "father of PBL" and former JABSOM dean
Many join the University of Hawaiʻi (UH) medical school community in mourning the loss of a leader who helped transform learning at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) from the traditional lecture-style curriculum to an active, hands-on, mentor-to-student and student-to-student “Problem-Based Learning.” Dr. Christian Lyder Gulbrandsen died in his Waimea, Hawaii home on Aug. 8, 2019 at the age of 80.
