Rising 7th and 8th Grade Students
Counselors will be visiting History classes February 5-9 to assist students with selecting their elective courses for next year. We encourage parents to begin talking with your student(s) about what electives they are interested in taking.
Teacher Recommendations
Your student's current teachers will be making course recommendations for Mathematics and World Languages and Cultures (if applicable). Your student should be able to view these recommendations under the Course Request tab in StudentVue on February 8.
Our teachers spend quality time reviewing current student performance to determine their professional recommendations about course selection to best support your child's progress and success for next year and into the future. If you have questions regarding a recommended course, please reach out to the individual teacher for support.

More Information on World Languages and Cultures in LCPS
LCPS offers French, German, Latin, and Spanish at Levels 1 and 2 at the middle school level. Proficient speakers of Spanish approved after the completion of a language assessment by trained LCPS educators may also take Spanish for Fluent Speakers 1/2.
Please review these very helpful resources to support your Mustang in making helpful decisions about adding a world language to their repertoire. Each and every one has special value...and students can even branch out to taking more than one language in high school and beyond!
Check out opportunities to earn Credit Through Testing for students who are already proficient in a language other than English as well as the amazing avenue to earn a Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma for graduation from LCPS, a tremendous honor!
