Dr. Ivory-Tatum and members of the Equity Task Force updated the Board of Education on the work of the committee and shared a draft of a new Board policy.
EQUITY TASK FORCE:
The Task Force spent the last several months crafting an Educational Equity Policy to be adopted as a new Board policy. The task force identified four major areas of focus:
- Statement of Need
- Vision
- Commitment
- Definitions

NEXT STEPS FOR THE TASK FORCE:
An Equity Assessment Audit will help the Task Force identify the populations and processes that need our attention most. This assessment will give us a more comprehensive picture of our District systems as a whole, focusing on our historically underserved or underrepresented groups.

SHARING THE POLICY WITH STAKEHOLDERS:
- Individual Principal and Administrative meetings
- Faculty/Staff Meetings
- School Improvement Team meetings
- Family Forum and Parent Academy Meetings
- Work with Principals to discuss at PTA's/PTO's/PTSA's
- Students, especially at the secondary level
*UHS and UMS Clubs
*Minority Enrichment Office
*Elementary mentor group spaces
- Focus groups for staff, students, and parents/families
