Please Send Email: Prior to 9am on the day of the absence (same as current voicemail option) Please Include: Child’s name, Grade, and Reason for absence.
We encourage you to use the email option when reporting an absence, dismissal, etc. Parents are still free to use the phone system to report absences, but you are encouraged to use email for greater office efficiency.
If you prefer, you can certainly call the attendance line prior to 9:00am, at 978-251-5122, please press 1.
We will continue to send automated emails when students are absent. The email serves as notification that your student is not in school and will be marked absent.
In order for an absence to be marked as "Excused", families will need to provide medical documentation.

McCarthy PTO has some fun gift giving ideas this holiday season. Check out the highlights below:
T'is the Season for Giving and Baking :
Do you love baking and decorating? Here's a sweet treat for McCarthy staff! McCarthy PTO will be putting together a Cookie Stroll for our December staff appreciation. The teacher's room will be transformed into a cookie shop with delicious treats from our families. Each staff member will be able to take 6 cookies home to their families. This activity will occur on Wednesday, December 20th. McCarthy PTO is looking for donations of homemade and/or store bought cookies and volunteers to decorate. This gift is sure to be a "Grand Slam!" for the whole family! Join Chelmsford Middle School Families at Fenway Park on Thursday, May 30th @ 7:00 P.M. to see the Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers. Tickets will be "tossed" to your MLB Ballpark App closer to the game day. This gift will really "Light the Lamp!" for hockey lovers! UML Riverhawks will be hosting Chelmsford Middle School night Friday, February 9th. Puck drop is at 7:15 P.M. Our school is considered to be "nut aware" and not nut free. Although nuts are allowed, no students are permitted to share food in the building. It is also considered best practice not to have students bring in shelled peanuts for the safety of others. It is important for students to understand that if they are bringing in nut products, they cannot share them regardless of whether the other student is allergic or not. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no student experiences an anaphylactic response and we can help prevent those events together.
While we have these discussions with students throughout the day, it would be helpful and appreciated if you would address this at home as well.
Medication should be given by the nurse
Good afternoon,
Just a reminder to parents that home medication should not be sent to school with students, the health office is well equipped to medicate, and can call home or work with families for specific needs. Students should not take medication unsupervised at school.
