We had a great two days back with our Wildcats and are ready for a full five days next week. Our students were welcomed back with two new things for the new year. We have new cafeteria tables with purple circle seats which provide individual space for each student to enjoy lunch. Our track now has an additional climber which provides a great place to climb high. We appreciate the partnership with The After School Program which shared in the cost of our new climber. We look forward to seeing our Wildcats enjoy this new piece during the school day and after school.

Did you know that we have a grant funded after school program happening three days a week at Walker? Our program is called Roar and happens on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15-5:30. During this time, students have a snack and club like opportunities to learn and grow while having fun with others. At 5:00 our program provides a dinner made by our cafeteria staff. We offer bus services to our many of our regular stops. The Lightbox Learning Classroom Solutions are web-based products that have everything you need to help your child discover the joy of learning. Each digital title comes packed with unique, fully integrated multimedia features, including embedded videos, slideshows, and curated weblinks. High-quality audio narration helps students improve literacy. Please help your child read books on devices at home. Time spent reading will help your child learn to read and to read to learn!

Last month in counseling lessons we talked about conflict resolution steps and modeled with partners how to solve certain conflicts that happen at school and at home. I gave each partnership a scenario and then we walked through the steps together. Here are the steps that we went through to solve our conflicts.

1. Ask the person if you can talk privately. Go somewhere that you will not be interrupted or overhead by others
   

2. “When __________ happened, I felt __________." or “When you __________, I felt __________.”
   

3. Let the other person share his/her experience.
   

4. “Next time, can we __________ instead?”
   

5. Agree on a solution or plan for next time.
   

6. Move on! Let it go and forgive one another. forgive one another.

I always sing Let It Go for them at the end of our lesson! Ask your child this week if they can remember the steps or the frozen song when talking about conflicts!
