Parsons Pirates Update

Dear Parsons Families,

What a crazy few days we had! I've never had so many days off for power outages in my career! The weather definitely presented us with a unique situation. Parsons finally regained power Friday afternoon and I am hopeful that we will open Monday with no problem. We know that many of you lost power and it was a stressful few days for families. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher to let them know if you have concerns. We are here to support you and provide routine, structure, and love as we return to school.

Kindergarten enrollment for the next school year opened Tuesday, February 21. There is a pre-enrollment link on the website. This pre-enrollment must be complete before calling the school to schedule an appointment. If you are School of Choice Intra District, you must enroll at your building of residence not your preferred school. If you are School of Choice Out of District, you must enroll at the Board Office with Karyn. Kindergarten Round Up will be Tuesday, April 11. Kindergarten screening will take place August 22 and August 23. You will sign up for a time during enrollment at the building. We can't wait to meet our newest pirates!

The wait is over! Grandparent's Breakfast is a Parsons tradition. This year's breakfast will be held on Tuesday, February 28th from 7:30-8:30. We are excited to welcome 250 people! Volunteers are needed for serving breakfast. Please contact Mrs. Aherne if you are available.

March is Reading Month! We have a reading calendar created by Ms. Fairris and Mrs. Krause. March 2nd we will celebrate Dr. Seuss day by dressing as their favorite character or wearing red and white. We have several guest readers coming to Parsons. The book fair is open and we are excited for students to receive free books at Bingo for Books! The Scholastic Book Fair is back! It will first be open on the morning of the Grandparent's Breakfast. Check out the following letter for all of the information.

Bingo for Books will be held this Thursday, March 2nd. There will be two sessions from 6:00-6:45 and 7:00-7:45. All students will take home at least one free, brand new book. Look for the flyer from PTO tomorrow.

Drama Club was set to start this week but the storm had other plans. Due to the power outage, auditions were moved to this Wednesday, March 1st. Please check your email for a message from Sarah Morgan.

Run Club is under new direction with Mrs Scheetz and Mr Ziemba taking the reins. They presented their new ideas at the last PTO meeting. Due to layout of Parsons and concern for students safely running indoors, they would like to start in April so Parsons students can utilize the track. This year Run Club will be before school for students in 2nd -5th grade. With the late start, Parsons will not participate in the Martian Marathon. However, Mrs. Scheetz and Mr. Ziema are planning on holding our own Marauderthon in June complete with t-shirts and medals. Stay tuned for more information!

Let's go Pirates!!!!! As of Friday, we have raised $7039 towards our $8,000 goal. The top student in donations is Riley Villalpando! Go Riley! Our school currently has 99 registered participants!

Students are learning all about the Kids Heart Challenge and jump roping in gym with Mr. Grima! Check out the family letter to learn how your family can get involved and support heart health!
