September Primary School Newsletter

It has been a great and exciting first few weeks of school! Our students have come to school ready to learn and are settling into their daily routines. We are excited for our growth and thankful for your support at the Primary!

Please remember that you play a vital role in your child’s success at school. You can help by asking your child about his/her day, having a positive attitude about learning, and reading with your child every night. You would be amazed how 20 minutes of reading with your child each night will help improve his/her language development and reading skills. Thank you for all your support at home!

Thank you for your efforts to get your children to school on time each day!

If your student needs to eat breakfast at school, please make arrangements for him/her to arrive before 7:50 am. This will allow time for eating breakfast and getting to class on time.

Our school day starts at 8:00 am and instruction begins right away. Students who are late arrivals miss valuable learning.

In situations of inclement weather a decision will be made at 2:30 pm regarding our type of dismissal. We will use text messaging to communicate that we are using our weather dismissal by 2:30 pm.

Kindergarten pick-up procedures will remain the same except for the students will gather in the gym. Staff will walk them out in groups to the pick-up zone.

1st and 2nd grade pick-up procedures will adjust to having one line directly in front of the Primary. Staff will be outside to help with direction of traffic. As parents/guardians pull up to the curb, students will be sent out in groups of 10-12 to load into vehicles.

We will be having our first PBS Assembly on Friday, September 29th. Classroom and Special teachers will be contacting families to let you know if your child is receiving an award. We are asking that special guests arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes of the scheduled time for the assembly.

This is the schedule that we will be following:

2nd Grade - 1:20-1:45 PM

1st Grade - 1:50-2:15 PM

Kindergarten - 2:20-2:45 PM

If you are planning to take your child at the end of the assembly, please contact the office to let us know prior to the assembly. If you are attending the assembly, please use the

front parking lot. We are anticipating an issue with parking as we get closer to the end of the day with the assembly and dismissal. Here are some things that you can do to help:

-Please use the back parking spots in the front parking lot if available.

-Parents lining up for pick up prior to 2:45 pm will initially be lined up using our side lot until assembly traffic clears out.

Hello Southern Boone Primary! My name is Christina Tracy and I will be teaching PE this year! I am so excited to get to know students, parents, and families. This month we will focus a lot on reviewing the rules and expectations, while learning how to play games and use equipment. We will also take some time to review/introduce the Motor Lab Classroom that is in our school.

I wanted to give you a heads up about our Kids Heart Challenge that will take place in October. This is a great opportunity to have fun and raise money for a great cause. Be on the lookout for your child's packet to come home in their backpacks. Feel free to reach out with any questions (ctracy@sbschools.us). Thank you!

This fall Southern Boone Primary will be participating in the Square One Art Fundraiser again! Square One is a fundraiser that places an image (student artwork) on an item to create a unique keepsake. When purchasing from the website a certain percentage of all sales are given to the art room and will be used to purchase supplies for the next school year.

The Square One project will be the first project students work on as the artwork has to return to the company by the beginning of October. The week of October 25th, order catalogs should arrive at school and be sent home. Each catalog will contain free stickers that contain the artwork image along with the personalized code that has to be entered on the website to find the student's unique keepsake items.
