The August 17, 2022 Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees Meeting
Cougar Champions
Jarrell Middle School was recognized for earning two distinctions and a "B" accountability rating from the Texas Education Association. The campus went from an "F" to a "B" in one year. Way to go!
Public Hearing on the proposed 2022-23 Tax Rate presented by Chief Financial Officer Robert Navarro.
Communications and Informational Items
Superintendent Dr. Toni Hicks gave a presentation about the First Day of School.
Athletic Director Marty Murr updated the district's athletic programs, including a new Texas Association of Sports Officials rule.
Bond 2021 Update presented by Sledge Engineering.
Action Items:
In addition to approving the Consent Agenda, the Board took the following actions:
- Accepted land donation in the Berry Creek Subdivision area. The district will use the location of the land for an elementary school site. This saves the district millions of dollars.
- Approved the proposed tax rate for 2022-23. (full details below).
- Approved the agreement for the Purchase of Attendance Credit (Option 3 Agreement) and to Delegate Contractual Authority to the Superintendent.
- Approved ratifying the Adopted District of Innovation Plan.
- Approved agreement with Jarrell Schwertner Water Supply Corporation for Double Creek Elementary School water. The agreement saves the district $300,000.
- Approved 2021 Bond Double Creek Elementary School Change Order 2 for coordination with off-site road and utility requirements.
- Tabled the guarantee maximum price for the 2021 Bond 1916 Building Project until the Board can do more research.
- Approved the district's Emergency Operation Plan
- Approved additional positions.
Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees vote to reduce the school Tax Rate
The Board of Trustees unanimously voted to reduce the 2022-23 Tax Rate. Jarrell ISD Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Tax Rate has been reduced from $0.87 to $.085. The I&S tax rate is $0.50. The total tax rate approved is $1.35 down from $1.37 the previous year.
