There will be no school Monday, January 17 for Martin Luther King day.

Due to the snow day on Friday, January 7, 2022, the 2021-2022 MURSD school year calendar has been revised.

• Last day of the school year is now June 16, 2022
• The 185th day is now June 23, 2022

This year's MCAS dates are the following:
April 12 &13- ELA
April 26 & 27 - Math
May 9 &10 - Science and Technology (Grades 5 and 8 only)

These will be listed under important dates to remember as well.

Join the MURSD SEPAC for our January (all virtual) meeting to hear from the SEPAC board, as well as Director of Student Support Services, on district updates. This month’s meeting will also feature a special guest speaker, Randy Fedoruk from Sensation Station in Franklin, MA, who will be discussing Occupational Therapy. More on Randy:

Randy has been practicing as a pediatric occupational therapist for over twenty years. He has experience working with infants, toddlers and school age children and he has specific expertise in working with medically complex or medically fragile infants and toddlers and graduates from the NICU. Drawing upon his extensive knowledge base and experience, Randy has conducted numerous evaluations in early intervention programs across three states as well as school based evaluations across several school districts. Randy provides intervention plans for children who have autism spectrum disorder and he creates sensory diets that can be incorporated into the children and family's daily routines. An experienced mentor and teacher, Randy has lectured at national and international conferences. Randy has been an adjunct professor at Dominican College and Quinnipiac University and an Assistant Professor of Occupational therapy at University of Hartford and he has taught courses in neuroscience, splinting, assistive technology, theory or frames of reference, advanced practice skills and pediatrics. Currently he is the Program Director and a professor of occupational therapy at NEIT and he owns and operates a small private occupational therapy practice – Sensation Station.

The MURSD Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a group of parents and guardians of children who are supported or who are seeking special education support in the Mendon-Upton school district. Our SEPAC not only provides a support network for other parents, but a forum for open communication about special education in our district, an opportunity for collaboration with district leadership, and more. Miss Holloway is once again leading an expedition to the Andes and Amazon Rainforest for Miscoe Hill students and parents! This incredible travel opportunity sold out (at 80 people!) in less than a week our very first year, and was a phenomenal experience for all travelers!

Highlights of the trip include: standing on the equator, hiking through the Amazon Rainforest, river tubing, a waterfall excursion, visiting an animal rescue center, white water rafting, zip-lining through the jungle, visiting with the indigenous Kichwa people, soaking in thermal hot springs, volunteering at a local school, and SO MUCH MORE!

Students that are currently in the 6th and 7th grade are eligible to attend. We will be traveling over the April 2023 School Vacation. Easy monthly payment plans, fundraising opportunities, and scholarships are available to help make this trip accessible for all!

Families will be able to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will NOT be notified if they are enrolled, so consider giving the gift of travel this holiday season and surprise your child with the adventure of a lifetime!

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to invite incoming freshmen and their parents/guardians to visit our campus for the annual Nipmuc Showcase. The Nipmuc Showcase highlights how our school’s academics, extracurricular opportunities, and student life are helping students to tap into their curiosities and blaze a trail to their futures. Incoming students and their families will have the chance to connect with our students and teachers to ask questions, tour the facility, and experience first-hand what life and learning look like at Nipmuc.

In order to welcome guests while maintaining COVID-19 protocols, the Nipmuc Showcase will be offered in two separate sessions on February 1, 2022. Please note that registration is required and that masks must be worn.

Session 1: 6pm - 7pm

Session 2: 7pm - 8pm

Winter clinics are held on Sunday afternoons starting in February, and are a great way to introduce a new player to the sport or get a jump start on the spring season. Attention parents of 8th graders. Please submit a baby picture to miscoeyearbook@mursd.org by January 10th. We typically receive pictures that are from ages 0-5 years old.
