Important, Please Read and Respond

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are finally getting good news in regards to COVID-19 numbers! We are trying to tie up all the necessary pieces together to be able to announce a reopening plan for our school--but we need your help with a couple of items.

We have a brief 6 question form for you to fill out which will ask for your plans for each of your children in regards to when we reopen our school to students this year. Your accurate information is needed for us to finalize what options we have in reopening. We are needing to hear from the parent/caregivers of ALL of our students. Only one person per household needs to fill out this form--but make sure to include information about every child that currently attends Mt. Baldy School or BASEcamp.

If you do not fill out this form, we will be calling you on Monday!

We need accurate information about whether on not you will have your child attend school on campus so that we can assure that our plan is in compliance with CDPH guidelines.

We also need to know your transportation needs so that we know to whom we will send lottery forms.

On a larger scope, the California Department of Education will be applying for more flexibility with federally required annual achievement tests. We should have more information about this mid-March. Also, President Biden has signed a bill providing funding for school COVID relief. Again, we will see what will happen on federal and state levels in regards to financial support for our students.

No one can deny the impact the pandemic has had on all of us. Children are not immune to the stresses this situation has caused. It is common knowledge that sustained stress can have an effect upon not only our emotional well being, but also our physical health. Social emotional stress also affects students' abilitity to learn and problem solve.

Our teachers are equipping our students with research-based practices to learn emotional self-regulation, self awareness and stress reduction. These tools are useful not only to help with coping with the challenges of pandemic, but also will serve our students well throughout their lives. Ask your child to teach you a few of the strategies they have learned this year!

Friday, March March 12, SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. This was a scheduled Pupil Free Day that we will use prior to reopening the school.

Thank you to all of our students and families for their generosity of actions, words and gifts in recognition of our Acts of Kindness Day. We were able to provide the House of Ruth with boxes of wondertul items of care and comfort for families experience domestic violence. What was most touching, though, were the cards of encouragement, thought and care created by our students, and the acts of kindness they recorded on our Kindness Tree.

Mt. Baldy School has partnered with Care Solace to support our community’s mental health.

Our school's students, staff members and their families can use Care Solace to quickly find verified mental health, behavioral health, and substance use treatment options matched to their needs regardless of circumstances or insurance coverage.

Care Solace’s team is available 24/7 and can support you in any language.

Care Solace will assign a personal Care Concierge to support you through the process of finding mental health care. Your Care Concierge will identify available providers who accept your insurance; private, Medi-Cal, sliding scale or cost-free options. They will help you book an appointment and check in afterward to see if you like the provider or need additional support.

The CDE and USDA have extended the Summer Meal Service to provide free meals to all students until December 31, 2020. We receive our lunches through Claremont Unified School District. Meals will be offered on a daily basis (not a week's worth like during the summer).

Families may go to the following locations to pick up lunches. Please mention that you are from Mt. Baldy School (they will ask for a meal card).
