Mountain View Weekly Update
January 6
Announcements & Updates
- The Genesis Student Information System will be updating all district URLs, including the Parent Portal, on Thursday, January 12. Service may be disrupted during this transition. If you currently access the Parent Portal via a bookmarked link, you will need to update the URL using the new web address linked to the District and Mountain View Middle School homepages. The updated URL will also be shared in next Friday's Weekly Update.
- All students will attend a music articulation performance at Mendham High School on Monday, January 9. Students will be transported by bus at 9:15 a.m. and will return to Mountain view at approximately 10:30 a.m.
- The second payment for the 8th grade trip to Gettysburg/Hershey, in the amount of $159.00, is due by January 27. Please refer to Mrs. Toth's November 7 communication for additional information.
- Many students are still exploring their options for next year, including applying to private high schools. While the 8th grade team and other staff members are happy to complete recommendations, the turnaround time to do so is, at a minimum, 3 to 5 days. Further, please be sure to read all instructions, as each school is different, and supply the necessary, completed documentation to Mountain View for processing. Finally, be sure to inform the Main office of your child's admission status, so that Mendham High School can be made aware.
- A reminder that per Board of Education policy 5511, "Dress and Grooming," pajamas (including pajama pants), are not permitted unless specifically stated (ie: designated spirit day).
A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy New Year Mountain View & Happy Friday! I hope everyone enjoyed their winter break. Today was an Advisory day. We put a new spin on New Year Resolutions and students learned about how to make goals for themselves using “Start, Stop, Continue.” Students looked at their academic and personal lives and decided on things they need to “start” doing; things that would help them to achieve their goals, help them to grow, and would benefit themselves. Students also reflected on things they need to “stop” doing; things that are not contributing to their growth, are causing consequences for themselves or others, and things that may have previously received negative feedback. “Continue” goals are those that we are already working on, things such as continuing to utilize an agenda or taking good notes that have proven to be successful for the student. Ask your students what they want to start, stop and continue in the New Year! Have a great weekend.
