Saturday, April 29: Siskiyou School AUCTION!
Dear Siskiyou School Parents,
Finally it feels and looks like spring in our town and on campus too. The blooming flowers and trees remind us of nature’s simple, silent, beautiful presence. The gift of beauty brightens these days of challenge in this time. The children at our school are imbued with the beauty of the Waldorf curriculum every day, and we see them soaking it up and being fed and nourished by it. Again, another rare gift in this time.
Here are some highlights of this week: To see, feel and hear how the students are engaged, surrounded and educated by the Waldorf curriculum, please join us for the open Main Lesson Tour tomorrow morning at 8:30am. Nina Gallwey will guide the tour from 1st to 8th grade.
Tomorrow evening please join us for a talk by Karen O’Dougherty, one of our founding parents of the school. She is wonderful and always brings such incredible and helpful parenting tools. The title is “Supporting the Tween”. See you tomorrow evening. This Friday the Rogue Valley Singers will come to our school and share their wonderful music at the Friday morning assembly. Parents are invited.
And last but not least – please complete your re-enrollment forms by this Friday, visit the online auction to bid on all the wonderful items and also don’t forget to buy your auction tickets.
Blessings on our school! Aurilia

Faculty Lunches: Sign Up
There has been a long tradition of parents providing faculty lunches at the Siskiyou School.
Our goal is to provide a warm and hearty meal every Tuesday throughout the school year.
It is an act that means so much and is beloved by all the teachers.
If you feel called to do so, please consider signing up through the link below. There is information about what to provide for lunch in the link. Additionally, this can go towards family service hours.
Lost and Found
May Day is coming! – Friday, May 5th, 11:00am
Join us at Clay Street Park for this beautiful spring festival! Feel free to bring a blanket or folding chair for seating on the grass. Family, friends, and Waldorf preschool and kindergartens are welcome to join.
We ask that Siskiyou School students:
- Wear white clothing (tan pants are great) – if you do not have white clothes, we do have some items in our lost and found closet, just contact Phyllis (phyllis.cooley@siskiyouschool.org) or stop by the office if you’d like to borrow something.
- A bouquet of flowers from your garden to share with their class for their May Day crowns.
Please note:
- Wear sunscreen or a hat and bring a water bottle.
- Dismissal will be at regular Friday times (12:20 for 1st, 12:30 for 2 through 4, 12:45 for 5 through 8).
- Please let your child’s teacher know if you will be on campus and are taking them directly from the classroom and not going to the dismissal area.
Thank you!

Class 1
Happy Spring, finally, everyone! I was thinking back to the last day before Spring Break and realizing that it was one of those memorably magical days in first grade. There was no real plan for the day, but I woke up thinking I should bake Irish Soda bread and paint shamrocks with the children . The day took on a life of its own after that. During recess the children found a random bit of green yarn and were sure leprechauns had been afoot. When we walked back inside there was an unfamiliar green man (puppet) in our room, and I had no idea from whence it came. Then appeared Ms. Leann dressed from head to toe in green. It was all very fun and silly. Who knows why folks might or might not appreciate Saint Patrick, but in my book there's always room for magic in the world of small children!

Class 8 - Hummingbird Class
The learning is rich, complex, and engaging!
Moving through these last couple months with the Hummingbird Class I am reminded of the beauty that exists in a Waldorf Curriculum. It truly is the story of human kind. Next week we begin the culmination of it all: Modern History or How did we get where we are? As we spend the last weeks together I am truly treasuring all the learning, while in a lesson or in a simple discussion with each other, that the students are gaining. Gratitude abounds!
Hope to see everyone at the auction! I'm excited to celebrate our school with you all!
