Picture Retakes
If your child missed Picture Day on October 24, or would like to have their photo retaken, school picture retakes will take place the morning of Monday, December 11.
If you already ordered photos, but your child wasn't at school on picture day, you don't need to do anything. Your child will have their picture taken December 11.
If your child is having retakes, please have them bring their original photo packet to school on December 11 to return to the photographers. There is no cost for retakes unless you are planning to keep the original photo packet too, in which case you will need to place another order for the new photos using the link below.
If you would like to order photos for the December 11 date, you can use this link:
https://v2.myproimages.com/kids-photography-2111/code/FAEFALL23
If you order from the link above, a photo will be taken of your student on December 11. These orders must be made by 10pm the day BEFORE picture day.
The link above is not for the original photos that were taken October 24. If you would like to order more of the original photos, please use the form enclosed in the photo packet you will receive
this week.
If you have any questions please email KIDS Photography at KIDSphoto@comcast.net

Student Safety
Fairmount keeps doors locked for safety. Please do not let others into the building. Should you find someone trying to gain entry, notify office staff, and we will clear that person.
Thanks for being part of our team, and keeping students safe!
Social Emotional Learning and Bullying Prevention
Each week, Fairmount students receive class lessons from Megan De Robertis, (also known as Mrs. D.), our school counselor/psychologist. This fall, we worked on recognizing emotions in ourselves and others, identifying our “best self” traits, and developing strategies to regulate our emotions.
In the following weeks, a four-lesson series will be taught on bullying in order to help every student feel safe, respected, empowered, and included. These lessons help students recognize what bullying is: intentionally mean behavior that happens over and over, that is one-sided, and involves a difference in power between the person doing the bullying and the victim.
Students also learn other important skills, including assertively telling the person to stop and reporting the bullying to a trusted adult. In older grades, students learn about the power and responsibility of bystanders, (people who witness bullying), as well as the complexities of cyberbullying.
If you have any questions about the bullying prevention series, the RULER approach to social-emotional learning, or supports for your child, please reach out to Megan De Robertis at derobertismt@mukilteo.wednet.edu or 425-366-2968.
Encouraging Learning Over Winter Break
A recent article from the National Education Association shares the importance helping your student stay engaged in learning over the break. Here are a couple of tips to try:
- Suggest a new book to start reading. Sometimes kids may feel unenthusiastic about reading for fun because of the amount of academic reading that have to do during the school year. Having a more creative outlet to charge their brain and dive into a story can be great for your child. Check out this list of top reads, broken down by age group. Or find booklists and book recommendations by theme from NEA's Read Across America program. Additionally, taking a trip to your local library can be a fun activity to get out of the house and expose them to a great resource.
- Go out and explore. Planning a trip to a neighborhood park or embarking on a hike can be a learning adventure for your child. Look for different kinds of plants, trees and animals you see. Also, simply being outside surrounded by nature can make you healthier, happier, less stressed and more alert.

Winter is coming! Are you prepared?
School may be delayed or canceled because of weather conditions or other events. Bus routes may also be affected by unsafe travel conditions. We communicate school closures and delays in a variety of ways including phone calls, emails and text messages to families. That means it is important to keep contact information up to date with your child’s school. Additionally, we post information on our district website, social media spaces and to local TV and radio stations.
