EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Ms. Pam Smith. Ms. Smith is a dedicated Special Education/Early Childhood teacher at the Marshfield Early Education Center. Ms. Smith has been making a positive impact on our youngest learners since joining our team in 2016.
Our Early Education Director, Ms. Courtney Coutts had this to say about Ms. Smith: "Pam is a very talented Special Education teacher for the Integrated Preschool Program and a valuable member of Marshfield's Early Childhood Advisory Board. First in the door each morning and often the last to leave, Pam is a true team player who tirelessly works to meet the needs of her students and their families. Her infectious laugh and positive attitude is inspiring and uplifting to those around her. Our "Mini-Rams" community is grateful for her hard work and dedication to our program."
Congratulations to Ms. Smith for being recognized as this week's Educator of the Week. She has left an indelible mark on our youngest learners and we thank her for all of her efforts. #WeRMarshfield
AN ANNOUNCMENT FROM FBMS PRINCIPAL KEMMETT
Dear Furnace Brook Families,
I hope this email finds you well. It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you of my plans to retire at the end of this school year. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Principal of FBMS for the past seven years and as an assistant principal for five years prior. Throughout my 12 years at FBMS, I have cherished the opportunity to work with thousands of students, our incredible FBMS families, and our dedicated and talented staff.
I am immensely proud of the progress we have made in recent years. Some of the many changes we implemented are a daily period, WIN (What I Need), to better support our students; introduced numerous new courses that promote student-centered, hands-on learning experiences; and welcomed 75 new staff members into our FBMS community. Our school is fortunate to have some of the most remarkable and dedicated educators whose passion and commitment inspires me daily. I have full confidence that they will continue to shine under the leadership of a new Principal.
As I bring my career to a close, I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a special, supportive, and caring community here in Marshfield and MPSD. I have complete trust in the district leadership's ability to find an exceptional new leader for FBMS. Rest assured, I will do everything I can to ensure a smooth transition in the coming months.
In closing, I would like to share a quote from Walt Disney: "It's not the days in life we remember, rather the moments." I am grateful for the countless moments that I have experienced during my time at FBMS, and I thank each and every one of you for being a part of them.
With deepest gratitude and blessings,
Maureen Kemmett

Taking A Closer Look At Anxiety
Anxiety is increasing among school aged children and often goes misunderstood or unnoticed. It can impact a student’s ability to perform optimally in the school and community environment. To support students with anxiety, we need to understand it ourselves. During this workshop you will learn about the different types of anxiety, how they impact a child’s performance and useful strategies to use and consider when raising a child with anxiety.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and light refreshments.
* If you require an interpreter, please note it on your registration no later than 2/12/2024

SENIOR SEMSBA FESTIVAL
Congratulations to the Marshfield High School music students who successfully auditioned for this year’s Senior SEMSBA Festival!
DWS CULTURE & HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Big thanks to Principal MacNeil, the DWS staff, the DWS DEI Committee and their PTO Liaisons for hosting the school's first "Culture & Heritage Festival". DWS families and staff came together to experience the many cultures that make the DWS community so unique.
Their goal was to travel around the world, as they experienced new foods, crafts, dancing, music, foreign language and much more. For their first time hosting this event, they did an amazing job and everyone in attendance had a great night.
As the front of the District's Strategic Plan says: "We Are Marshfield. Where Everyone Belongs". DWS showed that last night.

MHS SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS
A message from the MHS Guidance Office that was sent to families on February 7th:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Each school year, Marshfield High School is fortunate enough to award graduating seniors scholarships thanks to the generosity of the local community. Most impressively, over $250,000 in scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors last year. In turn, we strongly encourage all members of the class of 2024 to review the available scholarships and determine if they are eligible to apply. During an assembly this morning, seniors were provided an overview of the scholarship program. This included a demonstration on how to access the available scholarships, applications, and step-by-step instructions on how to apply and submit their applications using their Guidance Canvas page. Parents may also view the instructions, applications and list of available scholarships on their child’s Guidance Canvas page. All scholarship applications/submissions are due no later than March 7, 2024 at 2PM. Students may reach out to their guidance counselor with questions at any time.
Sincerely,
Kerran Goff, M.Ed.
Guidance Coordinator

LUNCHROOM FUN AT THE SRS
I had the pleasure of working with my friends in the SRS cafeteria this week. I had a tremendous time working with this engaging and talented team. I've been able to spend time in all seven cafeterias over the past month, and I can say that the professionals in charge of each cafeteria are second to none. We are so lucky to have them on our team. #WeRMarshfield
