McCollum HS Library Newsletter

We had many visitors on December 1! Students made book marks for their books and chatted about their plans for the coming holidays.

Our Cowboys Read! program has gotten a lot of attention this month! You may have seen the awesome article in the Southside Reporter, but there have been many other podcasts and articles.

This month's titles focus on World War II and how it changed the lives of millions of humans around the world. These books will allow you to experience the war from many different points of view.

January 6 -- Saturday School

January 15 -- HOLIDAY!

January 16 -- Student Holiday! Teacher workday. School Board Appreciation Banquet in the library during the afternoon.

January 16 through 22 -- LIBRARY INVENTORY. The library will be closed to students. Books can be returned in the book drop at the circulation desk.

January 23 -- Jonlivia Martinez bringing classes in for book check-out.

January 24 -- Craft Day in the library during 4th and 5th periods.

January 25 -- Teacher Mentor Meeting. Library closed to students during 4th and 5th periods.

Every year, the McCollum Library completes an inventory of the books in our collection so that we know what books are in our library. That means that Ms. Sharp and Ms. Sifuentes must scan the barcode of EVERY BOOK IN THE LIBRARY. That's over 15, 000 books! And that's why it takes so long to complete.

McCollum Library books that students and teachers have checked out already count in our inventory, so if you have a library book, you DO NOT need to return it until it's due date. If your book is due during inventory, you can put it in the drop box outside the library doors in the 800s foyer (we check it every period).

The mission of the McCollum High School library is to assist the learning community to become enthusiastic readers, empowered critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information, ideas, and technology.
