Positivity Project January 17-21: PRUDENCE
P2 for Families is an easy and effective way for families to discuss the importance of character strengths and positive relationships. It is differentiated for grades Pre-K – 2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Each character strength follows a 1-1-3 model: 1 quote, 1 video, and 3 questions to drive conversations around character at home.
Please choose your child’s grade level below to be directed to all of the character strengths.
Simply CLICK HERE. The password is P2 (capital P and the number 2).

A Message from Dr. Collins: Reimagining School Lunches
This week a concerned parent’s Facebook post about Parishville-Hopkinton school lunches went viral. The concerns expressed clearly resonated with students and parents as evidenced by the number of comments and shares. In fairness to the cafeteria, students are allowed one more serving of fruits or vegetables and one additional nugget than appeared in the photograph; however, this doesn’t alter the message that many students and parents are dissatisfied with school lunches.
The Cafeteria Manager and I are creating a group to address the dissatisfaction with school meals. In addition to the Cafeteria Manager and me, this working group will be made up of concerned students (4) and parents (4) along with a representative from the Wellness Committee. This group will explore ways to make school meals more appetizing while still meeting the strict USDA requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
If you are interested in being considered to serve on this group, please complete the form found at this link: https://forms.gle/PQECcM4tfR5xeCvH9

Hang Up and Drive
On Wednesday, January 5, PHCS welcomed Jacy Good and Steve Johnson to our school to visit with our 9th-12th grade students. Jacy and Steve are public speakers and advocates for phone-free roads. Since Jacy’s miraculous recovery from a 2008 car crash which claimed the lives of both her parents and left her partially paralyzed – a crash caused by a distracted driver – they have worked tirelessly to educate the country and world about the dangers of phone use behind the wheel. They implore us to help end an epidemic that shatters thousands of American lives every year.
Thank you, Jacy and Steve, for your candid perspective on such an important societal issue. Our high school students and staff now hold more insight as to the true responsibilities we take on while behind the wheel.
If you would like to learn more about Jacy and Steve's story, please visit their website Hang Up and Drive.
**NOTE: Below is a link to a video project Jacy did with AT&T's 'It Can Wait' Campaign.

Mask Protocol Reminders
- All adults and children must wear masks which cover their nose and mouth at all times when on the school bus and while inside the school building.
- Students are NOT required to wear masks when actively eating a meal, outside at recess, playing outdoor sports, etc.
With your help in conveying this important message to your child(ren) at home, we are hopeful to continue to minimize the number of school-contracted cases of COVID at PHCS.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to keep everyone as safe as possible.
