Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, September 12th
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We had our first Wolf Pack Assembly yesterday to welcome all of our new students and to find out what Wolf Den they will be a part of. Once students have their den, they stay in that den throughout their career at Mill Valley Elementary. Each den is identified with a color and we encourage our staff and students to wear their den color on our Wolf Pack Wednesdays (the first Wednesday of each month).
We recognized a special guest yesterday, Mrs. Shanahan, who is now the new principal of Lakeview Elementary. We presented to Mrs. Shanahan a very special Golden Award (shiny gold heels) as well as a picture of Mrs. Shanahan by the Lakeview Elementary sign. We are so proud of her and know everyone at Lakeview will love her!
If you haven't had a chance, please take this short survey and give us your feedback on our Welcome Back to School Night on Aug. 28th.

Lockdown Drills at Mill Valley
Our lockdown drill consists of conversations between students and their teachers to discuss what they would do if someone was in our building without our permission. During the drill, a script is read over the PA to help facilitate the discussions that happen in each classroom. We encourage our teachers to take as much time as needed to process the drill with their classroom. We are especially thankful for the cooperation of the Muskego Police Department in conducting these exercises.
While it is not our practice to inform parents prior to the drill, we will let you know via email as soon as the drill has been conducted.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school safe.
Attendance Matters
Does your child complain of a stomach ache right before going to school? If your child stays home, do the symptoms vanish, only to reappear the next morning? Does your child have a tantrum when you try to make your child go to school? Here’s an article from Psychology Today with some helpful suggestions on what you can do when your child doesn’t want to go to school.
