Today we had the opportunity to hangout with a class in Illinois with a Mystery Hangout. The students questioning skills have come so far in just one short week.

It sure was a hot week. Thankfully it cooled down toward the end of the week. Please continue to encourage your child to bring a water bottle.

Our secret students this week were Logan and Savannah and they were on track all day! Keep up the good work! Congrats to Izzy for receiving the quote of the week to take home. :)

Thursday is "Meet the Teacher" and I hope to see most of you. Students received homework in the form of a Language Calendar (for the month of September), spelling words (lists for 5 weeks), as well as a new homework calendar. Students will select one activity from their Language Calendar (due Friday) and study their spelling words (test Friday). We will discuss more of this. Please remember that "Meet the Teacher" is for parents only. See you then!

Math: Chapter 1 - Place Value

Reading: We will continuing learning the reading workshop routine and start reading Shiloh.

Writing: We will begin spelling this week. Students will get their words on Monday and take their spelling test on Friday each week.

Science/Social Studies: Scientific method. Latitude and Longitude.

**We are continuing our team building and development of classroom community.

Students will not eat lunch until 12:25. Therefore, students may bring in a daily start to be eaten after related arts. Due to food allergies, I ask that all students bring in a fresh fruit or vegetable for a snack. I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Hello! I am a 5th grade teacher at Hopkins Elementary. I enjoy spending time with my little family in Hiram, Ohio. I have three children: Ricky (7), Nora (4), and Sean (3). I love my church, road tripping, everything Disney, and creating memories. I have been at Hopkins for 10 years now between 4th and 5th grade. We are going to have a great year!
