Note from the Principal

Good morning and welcome to the first full week of school!

The students participated in a variety of activities last week to prayerfully commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001. I was a student at St. Mary of the Assumption when that occurred, so it brings back memories every year of the way our community and country united after unfathomable tragedy. A special thank you to Mrs. Pla for putting together a museum walk for our middle school students. If you are not already, please follow us on our social media to see pictures of the special events happening here at school, including this project.

Attached here are pictures from Mass with the Cardinal.

I have good news for many of our students who expressed sadness over the switch to Papa John's pizza. The manager has reached out and has offered to resume our contract for the rest of the year. So beginning tomorrow, our pizza Tuesdays will once again be catered by Papa John's.

Hot Lunch and ECP Charges

Hot Lunch and ECP charges have been added to your TADS account. Because forms were not able to be turned in prior to the month beginning, a separate invoice due on September 20th was created. Going forward, all charges will be billed on your normal monthly bill due on the 15th.

Family Income Survey

If you have not already, please complete this family survey that will help us secure the most federal and state funds (which supports educational programs, technology and textbooks, building improvements, etc.) for the children in our Catholic schools. I want to assure you that your privacy will be protected and that no names are required on this survey. Each form is confidential. Only the address and grade level are shared with the school district so that it can determine funding for our school.

Please only submit one form per family, but be sure to clearly list grade levels for all of your children attending our school. Your hard-earned tax dollars are paying for these programs and your response helps us keep them!

Saint Mary of the Assumption Home and School Association Open Board Positions

The objectives of this association:

a) To promote and encourage communication and cooperation between parents, administrators, and teachers.

b) To promote and strengthen the ideals of Catholic education

c) To oversee all fundraising activities for the benefit of St. Mary of the Assumption School.

d) Fundraise to support the initiatives of the recommendations of the School Advisory Board

e) Acquaint parents with up-to-date information concerning current developments in educational initiatives as they may affect the school so that they can be in a better position to promote the legitimate rights and concerns of their children.

Corresponding Secretary – Position filled!

We are excited Lauren Williams will return as our Corresponding Secretary.

Recording Secretary - Open

A) Keep a record of all association and executive board meetings

B) Keep a copy of these by laws on hand at all times, indicating any

amendments and the dates of the changes

C) Assist the corresponding secretary in production of the HSA newsletter

D) Perform any other duties as assigned by the president.

Hours Recorder - Open

A) Maintain the list of volunteer hours for each family.

B) Provide a list of hours earned every month to ensure accuracy.

Fall Picture Day

Fall Pictures will take place on September 28th. Students must wear full winter uniform for fall pictures, which will be used in the yearbook. Spring pictures, which will take place in March/April, will be out of uniform.
