Fall Sports
Dear Methacton Families and Community,
Huge shout out to the Methacton field hockey program who spent this past Sunday volunteering their time to help at the Race Back To School Methacton 5k Run/Walk. This community-wide event helped raise money for the Methacton Backpack Program, which provides food every month to Methacton students in need.
Go Warriors!
Sincerely,

Field Hockey
The field hockey team continued their season with two more league games last week. Varsity extended their winning streak. Monday, they took on Pope John Paul II and won 3-0. Friday ended the week with a competitive game against Spring-Ford where the Warriors had a decisive 5-1 victory. The team is now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
JV started off the week with a 4-0 win against PJP with freshman, Sydney Ryan, providing the team with a hat trick. After a hard-fought game Friday afternoon, their game against Spring-Ford ended in a 2-2 tie.
The team has a jam-packed week ahead with four games. Monday, they have a home game against Pottstown. Wednesday is sure to be another competitive game against Boyertown. Friday and Saturday, the varsity team will be playing at the MAX Invitational Tournament at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. Friday, they play New Tier High School from Illinois at 7:00pm and Saturday they take on Phillipsburg High School from New Jersey. Admission to the games are FREE!
Players of the practice this week:
Sydney Ryan (freshman) - This player brought her A game to practice. She was scoring goals, bringing a competitive spirit, and was asking questions to make sure she leveled up her game.
Nicole Walsh (sophomore) - During competition day, Nicole regularly used her speed to execute her skills and be successful in her attack. She was also very focused which helped her play well in each game.
Ceci Rehak (sophomore) - The day before a big game and Ceci came to play. She was focused and competitive the entire practice and was always pushing the tempo.
Upcoming Events:

Boys Soccer
The Boys Soccer team were finally able to get games in by the end of last week.
Thursday the boys travelled and played a solid game against OJR but gave up two early goals on corner kicks and were battling from behind the rest of the match. Finally falling 0-3. Solid work was turned in by the center mids Luke Naverrete, Ethan Kumar and Damian Mularz but Man of the Match honors for this one go to Curtis Alexander who was able to shut down whatever side of the field he was on all game, leaving nothing behind but some skin and a piece of his shirt.
Friday brought a very good Spring Ford team into the friendly confines. Our boys started the game with great energy and control and jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage on a beautiful goal from about 30 yards out by Ethan Kumar. SF was able to tie it up with about 10 minutes left in the first half and the game remained tied until the 60 minute mark. Unfortunately, that is when the wheels fell off. SF scored then took a man advantage after an over eager red card left the Warriors a man down for the last 20 minutes. From there 3 more goals were surrendered to account for the 1-5 final but it was no reflection of how the boys played. Despite the score the defense, anchored by Logan Courtney and Owen Rovinsky, turned in a solid effort that we hope they can repeat. Man of the Match award for this one goes to Cole Larcinese for his tireless effort and ability to create good scoring chances from what seemed like nothing.
The JV Warriors posted 0-3 and 0-1 losses but continue to work on the things that will create good Varsity players when their number is called.
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 9/18 - Game vs. Pottstown (HOME)
-Wednesday 9/20 - Game vs. Boyertown (AWAY)
-Saturday 9/23 - Game vs. Perkiomen Valley (AWAY)
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team had yet another light week due to games being cancelled, only playing undefeated Spring Ford and losing a tough one, 5-0 on Friday. The JV team, however, was able to earn a hard-fought, 1-0 victory, from a goal by Juliana Derro and spectacular goalkeeping from Alana Albergato.
With 4 games this week, the Warriors are eager to get back to a normal game schedule and start earning victories!
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 9/18 - Game vs. Pottstown (AWAY)
-Tuesday 9/19 - Game vs. Boyertown (HOME)
-Friday 9/22 - Game vs. Perkiomen Valley (HOME)
-Saturday 9/23 - Game vs. Harriton (AWAY)

Volleyball
Last week saw the Warriors travel to PJP to take on the defending AAA state champions. Methacton lost the match 3-0 however there were positives that the coaches emphasized to the team at the end. Playing that way will earn a lot of wins this season if we continue to work hard and do the right things. Wednesday had a match postponed at OJR so it gave us 3 days of practice to get ready for Downingtown West on Friday. Downingtown West qualified for the state tournament last season. We were able to defeat West 3-1 capping off the week. We received contributions from everybody on the team.
This week is filled with PAC matches against Spring Ford on Monday, Upper Merion on Wednesday and Boyertown on Friday. Upper Merion is after school at 3:45 and varsity only due to back to school night. Boyertown is JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7. Come support your Warriors in the gym!
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 9/18 - Game vs. Spring-Ford (AWAY)
-Wednesday 9/20 - Game vs. Upper Merion (HOME)
-Friday 9/22 - Game vs. Boyertown (HOME)
