The safety of all students is our number one priority. Therefore, all chaperones/volunteers must have a completed a background check. Background checks can be requested at this LINK. It can take up to seven days to get approved. All approved chaperones/volunteers will be issued a badge that can be picked up at the CIS office, prior to the event. The badge must be worn during the event.

Coloma Intermediate started the new digital Second Step SEL program this year! The new program offers a variety of videos, activities, and interactive components that are engaging and provide culturally relevant learning opportunities for classrooms. Our 4th and 5th grade students have completed the first two units of the new program: Growth Mindset & Goal-Setting and Emotion Management. The Growth Mindset & Goal-Setting unit discussed what it means to set a good goal, how to work through roadblocks, and also worked together towards a classroom goal. The Emotion Management unit explored how to rethink different situations, identify stress, and what they can do to help themselves through stressful situations. We have now begun the third unit, Empathy & Kindness, where students will learn how to have empathy for others by seeing things from their point of view, and how empathy and kindness are important elements of building and maintaining relationships.

Our Lory’s Place grief group meets once a month, during school hours, to help students process the grief of losing a loved one. If you would like your student to be a part of the group, participation is free, but parent/guardian permission must be given.
